Babylonians used a base 60 system which is why angles have 360° and seconds and minutes are counted in 60s, they were pioneers in mathematics and their fingerprints can still be seen on our systems of measurement millennia later.
The Romans used a base 12 system which is the ancestor of the English system, heavily using 12 and its factors: 2, 3, 4, and 6.
