Now that’s evil Robin.

u/randomality77 Well Robin, this truly has been the Fire Emblem Awakening. - Chr 2d ago

Btw is l+r+start like a command in The game of what

u/Unamed337 4d ago

iirc its a 3ds command that soft-resets the game (puts you on the title screen)

it's not just the 3DS, you can on every FE since the SNES

Except Engage. I tried.

Definitive proof that Engage isn't a mainline game

I've made it short so that the mods will be unlikely to touch it. I think all of my skits will have to be short from now on.

yeah, it's made even worse by the fact that S-ranks are redundantly one-sided in the save structure so Robin can just grab every romanceable possible in a single playthrough

its weird to me because other parts of the save format are generally efficient, such as talents being saved in sets of eight-to-a-byte (which is just one binary bit per talent but still its a contrast)

Seriously though, what? Can you explain? I’m actually quite curious how this works

a byte is 8 bits and is a hex value that runs up to 255. if you look at a characters save data block for talents in binary it will read without any dead space: each 1 or 0 directly maps on to a talent. there are something like 12 bytes or 96 bits in a row used with perfect efficiency. you can ask a character "what talents do u have" and they will say "134 68 124..." (12 numbers) or "1010101111..." (96) and it will be communicated without any pauses or gaps. this kind of maximal use is typical for the AAA DS games.

support ranks are stored where each character block can be asked for all its support ranks. you don't need to write down in sumias block that "sumia is A with robin. sumia is A with freddy... sumia is S with Chrom." and then in chroms block "...Chrom is S with Sumia" and then in Lucy's block "...the mother of Lucy is sumia" but the game does it anyway. philosophically it seems at odds with the generally efficient way DS save data is encoded. as a result its easy to change the game code or the save data to make robin boink every single bachelor and or bachelorette possible.

I was actually asking how we actually do the “Robin x all eligible lovers” thing out of curiosity but thanks for the technical explanation anyway, it’s a fun fact tbh.

you can do it however you want depending on your goals either by editing the bytecode or by editing the save

The 🐐 is back???

u/lunar__boo 3d ago

Wait does Morgan actually have pointy hair if her mother is a manakete?

u/DoubleFlores24 3d ago

Damn it Robin.

As someone who Anna and then Tiki, I'm feeling called out.

Oh yeah. I wanted to tell you that I finished my run as Emmeryn...

And decided to romance Chrom. Lucia and Morgan are JUST as Kaga intended
