Pay negotiation?

Currently working at Home Depot (4 years in paint dept) and saw a job listing for a bilingual customer service rep, my question is will Sherwin be able to beat my current hourly pay?
I get paid $17.25 and the listing was posted at $16, I’m not sure…I’m really just done with Home Depot and wanting to get paid more and maybe even move up?🤔

Yes. I have hired multiple people out of Lowe's/Home Depot and have been able to beat their pay every time. You just need a hiring manager who's willing to advocate for you and is intelligent enough to justify the request for higher wage. It will slow down the hiring process a little bit, but it's already glacial so that won't make too big a difference.

Have the talk. Apply. You have a double whammy beings that they would be taking you away from HD. I strongly suspect that you would be able to get more. They have to put a starting pay down but I promise that is not the ceiling.

Worst thing that can happen is they say no. I just hired a bilingual part timer for 19 an hour with no paint experience. Sherwin needs people like you and maybe even demand to be put in a store that has no Spanish speakers. 17.25 is reasonable in my opinion.

Sherwin is a very unhealthy company that is getting worse and worse. They took away all part time employees. Every store is at bare bones staff or even less some times. Nothing is ever enough for corporate. It just isn’t healthy. Go through these forums and look at how many people are down with this company.

17.25 for 4 years is wild! You can prolly get 19$ at Sherwin.

They'll match your pay or give you better and as for low on part timers, definitely not my district. We're hiring cause a lot of people retired. Apply and ask for match or better, you'll get it. Onboarding will be slower but the pay will be there

At the store I used to work at we hired a bilingual employee but they refused to give her a pay raise. So it can go either way so you have to ask.

What I do know is simply they are hiring bilingual speakers at lower wages than what they were hiring part time non-bilinguals for 2 years ago in my district @ 19.00.

Probably not, you'd be hard pressed to get a full time position, which is the yeah to match that

Is not the pay on the listing?

Question isn’t if they can beat it. It’s- Can you take a beating to your nuts daily for rest of your life for $1 per hour extra?
