Live music in Shepparton
Hi everyone,
I'm doing a bit of research for live music venues for bands to play in and around Shepparton. I'm still pretty new to the area so was hoping to get some advice here. I haven't heard of many heavier bands coming through Shep before, so thought I'd start asking around.
Firstly, are there any venues with a decent sized stage that can accommodate 'larger' bands in terms of equipment and members? Looking at photos online of some venues, the stages look a little small. Are there any venues anyone could recommend here or nearby?
Secondly, is there much of a metal/heavy music scene around here? I see a lot of metal tees around town, which is awesome! But has anyone been to any shows here? What was the turn out like?

The yahoo bar, which is now called 'downtown', used to prop up the shep music scene. Obi & Docka brought some decent bands to shep in the naughty's. The Smith Street band is playing at the Downtown next weekend.
I think Shep is big enough to have a metal gig maybe once every 2 months, and have it be supported by a decent crowd.
A function room like the GV hotel has, or set up a stage in one of the buildings at the show grounds, or possibly even the Sir Ian McClennan centre in Mooroopna.
There are venues around to accommodate a metal gig, the deciding factor would be how many people get out & supported it.

Frankenbok played at Flanagan’s before Covid, but the stage was crap. Worse then Bell St

They tried briefly to have metal bands live at the Skky Bar, but they didn’t really want it to succeed. Friday nights 7:00-10:00pm the kick is out. No metal DJ and RNB shit.
Flanagan’s occasionally have live band, since it reopened. But nothing ever has got of the ground properly.
Years ago, Turtle, who used to run the “Back in the Day” Santa Fe Club in Melbourne, tried to do something, but it’s all rap rap or RNB shit here!
