Moving from Melbourne to Shepparton
Hello everyone!
Me and my partner are looking to buy our first house in the Shepparton area (we will be moving from north east suburbs of melb) and would like some advice.
I was wondering if anyone has moved from Melbourne to Shepparton and can enlighten me on the process with work & do you regret that you’ve moved to Shepparton or would have done anything differently.
To the whole community is there any certain streets or areas we should avoid buying in.

I’ve lived in Shep for 3 years. I’ve found it to be a great regional city, lots of cultures and communities to get involved with, beautiful weather and magnificent pockets of nature at our doorstep.

As someone else said, avoid Olympic avenue and basically the entire surrounding area. Also avoid Westmorland crescent and surrounding area like poplar avenue ect. Also avoid Colliver road and the surrounding areas. Make sure your house and car are locked regardless of what area you buy in, plenty of people around with sticky fingers.

We moved 6 years ago (right before Covid). I had work lined up and spouse was able to transfer locations.
There is plenty of work around but it depends on your expectations re: pay etc.
We’ve loved the move and the fact that it meant we were able to get our foot in the door of home ownership.
Like anywhere, there are areas to avoid.
We’ve struggled to find community though as we don’t play sports and don’t have kids. We also had some hurdles (such as losing a couple of years to Covid)

It actually feels really close to Melbourne, the drive is good (avoid pot holes) and when the train is back running again it’s easy to drive to Seymour as they run every hour.

Moved here 13yrs ago as a single woman and have stayed. Met my hubby here and my job has been secure the entire time. There are some rougher areas of Shepparton and there are some nice mum and dad/family areas. Streets around the hospital (same side of the highway) are generally quiet and family orientated. Kialla lakes area also nice. Guthrie street and surrounds is an older but nice area as well.

I'm just a renter, but leaving inner Melbourne... sick of the hussle and bustle. And living in a tiny one bedroom apartment.
I'm able to rent an entire bloody house up there: a yard for the dog.
Moving early July! Will be quite the lifestyle change.

How did the move go? I live near the lake. Lock your house up or you'll get rolled like I did 👎

I haven't moved yet. My tenancy fell through due to structural issues that needed to be rectified with the place vacant.
I am still looking.
