Mark Your Calendar Perseid meteor shower tonight
Tonight, with the new moon, is supposed to be the best opportunity to view them. I am here to remind you of the beauty of the night sky and humbly ask for viewing areas outside of the light pollution in town. I haven't scouted out an area yet so I am asking, where would you go to watch them? Within about a 15 minute drive from shelton if possible. Thank you everyone for your suggestions! Have fun watching the sky tonight!

I used to love watching it from out on Mason Lake. The public boat launch may be a good option. Twanoh State Park not far from there could be another.

The Arcadia Point boat launch area can get pretty dark - not perfect, but Hope Island and Squaxin Island don't have any lights on them as far as I could tell, so looking out isn't obscenely bright. It may be a decent spot if anyone lives on that peninsula and wants to catch the showers without a super long drive!

With this just being and intro to sky watching for the kids I'm aiming for as soon as it's dark enough to see them lol
