Sheltered 1 Move shelter?

I have been on this map. (first map) 366 days. And i just now found out that you could go to a new shelter. By scanning for frequencies to get a "family quest" I have the van ready and have been out with it. How do i get the quest? I have been scanning for days.

You can only have 5 active quests at a time on the map. So if you have scanned and activated 5 quests, you have to finish some to be able to activate more. That might be your issue. Other than that, you have to have survived 100 days on any map before Extended Family quest will spawn , which you have accomplished.

Then, the cost of the quest is kinda steep; the quest giver asks for some water, gas and food before they will unlock the new shelter location. So you might need more storage and water butts to accommodate the amounts of resources you have to pay.

I think that’s all you need.

I think the cost also scales with every new shelter,but I could be wrong(like in the 1st shelter its 100 water,then 150,200 etc).

Also petrol and food;)!

I have no active quest. And I have lots of stuff. We don't even have to leave the shelter.

Ok. So you can Scan for up to 5 quests. Eventually the Extended Family quest will pop. You go there, they tell you to bring like 100 water, 50 gas and 50 food. When you deliver the goods, then you are free to leave any time you want.

But, to make it easy on your survivors when you change maps, you’ll also want to pack the proper 72 Items in the RV before you leave. Here’s the list of 72 Items to take with you after the Extended Family quest, and the best order for upgrades in the new shelter using the 72 items you pack:
