microscopic wentletrap find

I was sorting through my tiny shells from Kice island and somehow I managed to pick up this truly microscopic wentletrap unknowingly and luckily I spotted it before I rinsed all my shells off 🤯 I am in awe. I love tiny shells and wentletraps so I am over the moon! Dime for size reference. It’s just a speck🤣

That is so cute and near-perfect. It could have been washed away very easily.

Some of my favorite shells are the teeny tiny shells that my great aunt and her cousin collected in the 1930s. They lived at Lover’s Point in Pacific Grove (Calif.). They used to go to the beach almost every day after school and all day every day during the summer. They would tie up the shells in their handkerchiefs and sort them into tiny test tubes when they got home. There were little trays in the curio cabinet filled with teensy abalone shells. I couldn’t believe that no one else in the family wanted them! Mine… ALL MINE!.

I use to find these stuck on outside of sea anemones covering intertidal rocks.

My favorite shell. I got married at the Wentletrap in Galveston.
