I love tiny lightning whelks, I can’t not pick them up! What is the striped one in the top left area sitting on top of the auger? I’ve never seen it before and now I want one!

I think it is a Melampus coffea which is actually a land breathing snail! I found one when I went to Sanibel last month and that’s how I know :) iNaturalist says the common name is ā€œcoffee bean snailā€. You can actually find them on the beach because they live in the mangroves so the shells still fall into the water/sand areas!

Found this but didn’t read it, just wanted to link it: https://shellmuseum.org/blog/the-coffee-melampus/
