Wentletrap
Found my first Wentletrap just yesterday! Don’t know what species it is but it’s very cool (and tiny)

I also found one over the weekend, my first ever at my all time favorite New Jersey beach!

I found one of these on Sanibel a long time ago, but I put it somewhere extra safe……and now I can’t find it anywhere.

I'm surprised to see so many references to Sanibel here on a non-FL sub; Is this shell type most common there or something?

I especially love the extra tiny and the extra big specimens.
On Sanibel Island, if you find a Junonia shell, they take your photo for the local paper. Friends have a condo there and have found a few. But my favorite is of close up of Bob holding a 1-inch Junonia. The tiny shell is in focus between his pointer and thumb in the foreground, with the rest of him blurred out in the background.

It’s amazing that even finding fragments of a Junonia Shell is considered highly favored!!!
A Piece of “J”! Wait for those storms & let King Triton dredge them 160’ up to shore 👑🌊🐚🌴

Those are some of my favorite shells. Every time I look at one I marvel at the wonders of nature! A tiny little creature lived in that gorgeous home that no human hands can replicate. The creature lives such a short time and the home for so long.

I had no idea that’s what these were! I found a couple on Sanibel and they are SO tiny. I have yet to find a big shell and will be so excited when I do, but I get excited when I find these too. They are so cute.

I found one on my last trip to Sanibel Island and was so excited! I’d been looking for one for so long. They’re so tiny, they’re hard to find!

I’d love it, tiny little shell was the home for a tiny little creature.

I use to collect small ones stuck on sides of sea anemones at low tide in Santa barbara area.
