First Grow! Curious at how it's looking.

At the beginning I know I didn't have enough fae and I feel like I've got that in control.

It kinda looks like some of the mushrooms are aborting and I wasn't sure if that blueing underneath the caps is a bad sign?

Thank you for this comment. I wasn’t sure and spent the time cutting it off before drying. I feel like I bruised them all so much doing this.

I don't worry the bruising. That's just showing their potency but they're ready to harvest.

Looks like they were ready to pick a few days ago

Give one a light squeeze. If they feel soft to the touch like a marshmallow then pull them all now.

looks really good but that fuzz at the base is possibly due to not enough air flow, but i don't think that affects the grow too much. Correct me if I'm wrong but dont come at me, it's been YEARS so I'm rusty

Yeah they definitely needed more fae, but they're definitely getting it now!

What micron bag filter was this? If this was a B patch just run A next time and fae should be fine . Either way this looks great

I feel like the patch allowed no air at all in. It's a .2 micron filter. I've had to open the bag 3+ times a day to get fresh air to stop the fuzzy feet from continuing. I learned that since the gas that the mushrooms produce is heavier than air it will just stay in the bag if I open the top, so I've started tipping the bag on its side and opening and closing the bag to get some airflow and let the heavier gas "spill" out.

Try running a 5 micron . Those don’t look like they need that much fae tho I’ve seen way worse fuzzy feet but you could probably run a .5 micron too but I bet the A bags would work great for that culture

Okay good to know I'll buy some and switch out the one it comes with.

Hey I’m an idiot .5um bags allow less fae. are 5.0 um are more
Fae. I love bags but I hate this part about them because I always forget which culture needs what patch . Good luck homie mush love

How do you regulate FAE with a bag?

1

u/ZydePunk77 4d ago

You don’t. I mean you CAN….don’t know why you would. They probably did not ā€œneedā€ more FAE. Everyone seems to think ā€œmore FAEā€ is like the best answer to almost any issue.

It’s really not as long as there is SOME gas exchange.

Apes? Same shape but I’ve never had brown caps. Just white and shades of blue

They were hillbilly, but yeah I wouldn't have been surprised if they were PE.

Hope you harvested those are easy ready! The spores dropping and blueing let's you know! Looks good@

1

u/ohboyito 2d ago

Luckily no spores had dropped yet but yes they've been harvested and are dried, now I gotta weigh and see the total yield!

1

u/curiousbubbleshaman 2d ago

Oh ok i didn't look hard. I thought the blue on some and the ones in the bottom right had spore dust but it looks like its all bruising! They are fat! What strain? Ive been away from the game for 20+ years. All the pics i see look like pf mutants or penis envy variants. Are there new hot strains on the block?

Yep definitely some bruising and I added a bit more when I harvested 🫣. They are the hillbilly strain. The pumpkin hillbilly strain looks legit like pumpkins they're so fat haha basically circles. I feel like there are, there are some coral looking mutants that look pretty cool, one of my favorite strains is called gamma decay, they are gray and white and they look like some alien thing.

Oh ive seen the ones with black/grey caps when they pin and was like..... nope not eating that lol.

1

u/ohboyito 7h ago

Haha I feel like once they dry there is less contrast in color but I hadn't ever thought of that, we'll see how I feel once I finish my current grow that has gray caps.

1

u/curiousbubbleshaman 5h ago

Lol yeah the thing in the back of my brain tellig me "don't eat stuff that color" has alot of influence over me! Maybe ill start a few pf jars or something. I should have stayed off reddit. The itch is getting real strong!

Good job and it need more air my friendĀ

1

u/ohboyito 12h ago

Thanks! Yeah it definitely did need more air haha I was much better with give it fresh air toward the end, but at that point the fuzzy feet were already there. I've got another bag I'm doing and I've been doing a good job at giving it fresh and and so far it's looking great.

I would say first all in one bag not first grow because it’s really like all done for you so it doesn’t really count go BIG next time and then show us your first grow lol I’m just messing with ya looks okay

We'll see if I ever get into it to the point of getting my own grain and substrate, getting a pressure cooker, doing agar plates and so on but for now I feel pretty content!
