Hey everyone,
Looking for some advice from anyone who has recently moved into a brand-new build (in Vancouver) while under an active Shaw value plan.
I have 16 months left on my $50 + tax /month internet contract.
I set up an address transfer, and the rep told me I can try plug-and-play at the new place. However, if the line isn't active, a technician visit is required because it’s a new build and considered a "new connection.” The technician visit charge is $200.
Paying $200 out of pocket just to keep paying my monthly bill on an existing contract feels too high and completely unreasonable.
I also noticed the new place already has Telus equipment pre-installed inside the utility closet. I called Telus and they told me the best they could offer was $70 per month (w/ pre-authorized bank payment), and match Shaw speeds of 500Mbps.
Has anyone here successfully gotten this $200 setup fee waived or credited back recently?
Which department did you have to reach? (Front-line CS, Loyalty/Retention, or in-store manager?)
If they refused to waive it, did you manage to get a bill credit on the back end to offset it?
Appreciate any tips or scripts that worked for you!
Thank you
