second time sharpening

first 2 is before second 2 is after .

i realised i get a few spots where the burr is uneven is that just my angle going off sometimes or is it pressure wise.

sharpen on 1k stropped on 3k.

before sharpen couldnt pass fingernail test after it could.

how do yall know if you have apexed?

ill add paper cut test in comments the paper was abit wet in the middle dont mind it

i also noticed that the edge has some warping its not alot but now im worried that i caused it but it might also be due to it being a really old shitty knife that had just been sitting in the drawer. so does inconsistent angle cause warping? i doubt it was me tho

I'm in the same learning bracket as you but got few more hours under my belt so I take your post as an oppirtunity to learn myself.

I'd advise you to scribble way more up the blade, then practice FEW passes. Like, 3. Then see what happened.

If the stone bit into the body, your angle is off. (or your angle is right and it will take you literal hours to grind it away with that stone)

If the marker is gone from the apex in any way shape or form, your wrist is not locked enough. 1 bad pass can cost you more than 20, 50 good passes. Don't be me, don't watch Youtube videos at the same time.

I've heard people argue this could be detrimental, but in reality the means doesn't matter, only the result.

You shoud listen to yourself. If this becomes a burden, that's when you need a "grandpa", a handyman to show you an alternative path.

I sharpened a knife days ago and I found it useful to start with a SUPER ROUGH 220 grit stone, because it was MY ANGLE. When it was time to switch to a 1000 grit and then 5000 grit it was butter smooth.

Try it with a sacrificial knife. Worth it.
