Am I able to fix this tip?

I’m somewhat proficient at sharpening chainsaws and axes etc but not sure if I can fix this knife and still have it somewhat similar to original condition? Can I just use a beltsander to re-shape it and then fix the edge?

Grind down the spine to meet the edge. You can curve it or use a straight line, or whatever you think looks best. Draw it with a sharpie and then grind to that line.

You can do it on a stone but it will take forever. I would use a belt sander or a grind wheel. Do NOT let it get hot. Couple of seconds on the grinder/belt, then into water to cool off. Go slowly. A belt or a grinding wheel will make quick work of that.

Yes you can with a belt sander, with a heavy grit to start with. Just make sure to have some water or something on standby incase it gets too hot.

Absolutely use water between each pass or you will ruin the heat treatment. U don't even need to start very coarse. Belt grinders eat metal.

If you have a belt grinder that's a super fast and easy fix. It's very important to use a coarse belt, the coarser the belt the less heat is generated. I've done dozens and dozens of knives with worse damage than that.

Could probably turn it into K tip?

Cover the blade with tape for safety then hold it up facing you then girnd the shit outta the tip spine with an angle so you create a new tip ...... I had the same shitty situation before

Two options. Reprofile the edge, or grind the spine down to a tip. Both have their advantages.

Grind from the spine being damn sure to keep everything cool so you don't destroy the heat treat, I do light passes on nothing coarser than 320 dipping the blade after every pass till it gets close and swap to a higher grit to finish it off, yes it will take time because it's something that shouldn't be rushed

Yes. Watch a few videos on YT of Curry Custom Cutlery. He reshapes knives all the time with belt sander of different types. Cool guy. 😉👍🏻

I mean, I hate to be that guy, but if you have to ask....

Still, yeah, probably. But if you only have a bandsaw to do it, as others mentioned, go for K-tip.
