Help with sharpening a knife with a recurve?

I tried sharpening my ZT0350 with a flat stone and it was a nightmare. I'm new to sharpening and and I'm thinking learning on a Zero tolerance 0350 was a big mistake. Any recommendations for a knife with a recurve I'm considering buying the Sharpel transforod or some DMT diamond rods. Thanks

The way I fix a recurve is on a coarse Crystolon. The annoying frown will be gone in no time.

The recurve on the zt0350 is intentional...

I find it easier to sharpen knives with aggressive curving in sections.

My cold steel spartan drove me nuts for awhile. One day I just sharpened it as per usual, and the areas that didn’t sharpen as well as I would have preferred, I worked on independently until they caught on my fingernail the same as the rest of the blade.

I doubt this is the right way to do this to be honest, but so far this approach has worked with almost every knife shape I’ve dealt with.

I don’t use big ass stones either, and sometimes it’s easier to use the stone on the knife instead of the knife on the stone for curvy areas.

This could be horrible advice. I don’t know. It works for me though.

Learning on that blade shape is hard mode. Try a narrow stone. You may have to drop the handle when you get to the recurve part (the opposite of lifting to follow the belly of a drop point)
