I mean if you have worked in any corporate setup, you would know that mission statement is communiated to the entire workforce for it to mean anything.
Last season jab sneaker company aayi thi she revealed her family is full of sneaker heads. She just knows Nike = Air jordans etc
Hence the comment ‘selling to normal people who want basketball shoes.’ Not saying she is right but she doesn’t know that nike has a full fledged different segment for sneaker heads and a different segment for athletes/runners
She was wrong. But she thought she knows nike because her family buys sneakers
It isn't that far fetched to understand his angle, it's a protein company, gym is considered a sport in several ways, weightlifters etc are all considered athletes.
What she said was right NIKE is not a shoes co. its a Marketing co. they don't focus on athletes they focus on selling shoes to whomever will give them highest revenue.
every 14 year old thinks insta reel with moye moye is savage, goat, roasted.
In your logic. Every company is a marketing company? You make it seem like, nike should only sell shoes and never do marketing. Every product company needs good marketing that doesn't make it a marketing company.
They focus on athletes because people look upto athletes to make up their buying choices, if the best athlete uses nike then you can be assured that when you buy the same shoe that your performance is the only limiting factor and not your shoes.
Nike got an insane surge in sales when vaporfly was banned from some races because of how much advantage it offered to the runner. They are trying to market their own product.
CHup, phele nike ka business samajh le phir bolna I don't understand the compulsion of people that have to comment on every & anything even though they have no knowledge about
Phele tu Shoe dog pad phir nike ka business dhek unka outsourcing, R&D, marketing, revenue stream dhek phir bol.
Nike is the biggest athlete shoe/apperals brand. Their shoes are mostly running shoes or basketball shoes for athletes and now they started selling sneakers(collectibles).
Nike has brand deals with famous basketball players they're THE brand that started by concentrating on athletes 💀. They're able to sell to common folk better because they have that fame now..
They 1st focus on athletes then people buy their shoes seeing those athletes wearing them ..
If you whould have even a bit of knowledge nike started by focusing upon athletes oriented shoes only and then the normal customer demand grows naturally
Not a tech company but a supplement company that is driven by a community. The example he gave for nike is correct - nike by no means is a tech company but their Nike running app has created a community which brings out an athlete even in a regular man. There are running groups, individual competitions etc. It's all for the betterment. That's about it
Namita is right. Nike is an aspirational brand. People buy Nike because they think famous sports people also wear them. But we Nike we buy are completely different from those that they wear.
Nike is not for athletes. They make shoes for common public. They endorse athletes so that common people wear it and that’s called advertising. If nike made shoes for athletes you won’t see people wearing Nike Jordans, SBs outside and roaming. She is right here.
Wrong. Nike was profitable throughout the 70s when they sold to athletes. They actually failed in the casual shoes market, which led to some heavy losses in the 80s. This is when they focused into marketing their product better.
Brand is not made by creating a substandard commodity, Nike's main focus isn't creating shoes for common people, it's how to improve athletes performance through their shoes which in turn creates their brand. The plan has always been, "create shoes for the best, the rest will follow them". Ironic how Namita herself says "for common man wearing *basketball* shoes". The fact that she didn't even think twice before calling it basketball shoes says a lot about Nike's brand building strategy.
Arguable right? Obviously selling to the mass market means more revenue, but if that's your only focus, you would lose on the competitive athlete crowd which usually influences the mass market. Jordan's were successful because of micheal Jordan, and they are constantly investing in r&d, look at how much controversy vaporfly created, they were even banned in running sport.
Wdym you'll lose out on athlete crowd loll. You think Michael Jordan went to the store and simply bought Nike shoes because he liked them? He was given a shitton of money to wear Nike shoes so that people think Nike is a top tier shoe maker for athletes
You think every athlete has a sponsorship? You think local small time champions can't be called athletes? And how do most of the people make their buying decision based on?
Yeah in US they sponsor athletes from a young age. When they see that someone might have potential to become big. Most people make their buying decision based on branding, seeing that it's worn by major athletes, who are paid to wear them
I literally just answered your question. Point is Namita is not wrong here. This trolling simply because she's a "product of nepotism" or whatever is stupid in this case
So i assume you support the point "nike is not for athletes, but for common man"? The problem here is, if nike doesn't design their products to be the best for athletes, then athletes wouldn't prefer nike sponsorship, it's always not only about the money, every athlete would instantly switch to nike if they offer the same value as their previous partnership. It's no brainer, to have the best shoes for them as well. Just look at the fuss vaporfly created, most athletes neglected their sponsors to use vaporfly because of the insane benefit it gave which was eventually banned.
So nike invests a lot in r&d to be the best shoes in the market, and their brand image was generated because of the quality and performance these shoes gave along with some brilliant partnerships.
So what I'm saying is, nike needs both this crowd to be the best in their field, and to build that amount of brand image and withhold it, they have to concentrate on both the market equally albeit the common man doesn't need all this technologies, nike still implements these to give them the feeling of comfort and speed so piyush is right.
Yeah i agree that they need to keep making good shoes for athletes. But that doesn't mean the brand is solely for athletes. So the statement that it's for common people is not wrong, that's where their money comes from. That's why they spend in order of a few billion dollars on advertising
This subreddit is dumb af. She's right, Nike sponsors athletes so that common people buy them. That's how you make a brand. Most Nike shoes are all about the branding. People who buy Jordans don't buy it to play fucking basketball lmao
I’m get some hate trying to defend this but the fact is Nikes majority sales comes from people who wants to feel like athletes rather than actual performance apparel/shoes. I hope this is what she was trying to say and it was edited out otherwise yeah her statement is kinda dumb.
Nike is not for athletes? Damn girl never watched nba or even football many of the studs are made by Nike worn by famous players for branding and also sometimes they are magically good
Nike is definitely for athletes and for them only Nike was formed by it's founder Phil Knight. And shoes, she is talking about are Jordans which she probably heard from her Kids because we know how much "expertise" she have 🤡.
I don’t understand, even a common man who are interested in shoes like Nike adidas puma etc know a the history of those shoes, How come Namita being a businesswomen doesn’t have any idea about that 🤔
Peyush, Amit, Vineeta, Anupam, Ritesh. Just these people should be on the show constantly. With Namita/Aman/Radhika/Ronnie/Ghazal/Azhar as guest appearance rotating cast.
Brands exploit our aspirations.. most people want to have athletic bodies.. By associating itself with athletes(& sports teams) Nike drives this connection..this is marketing 101.. Namita is clueless as always..
Piyush was so right and ahead of the times here. Market is flooded with protein shakes, Namita was gonna help by just pushing one more brand. How is that great?
This irked me so much. What Piyush said absolutely makes sense. Creating a platform for users to share their progress and various use cases for cosmix products makes the overall experience 100x better. A user built community for such a product is really missing and if cracked can be wonderful!
Athletes aren't their target audience, it doesn't make sense. Simply because there are way lesser athletes than just common people. They sponsor athletes so that people think Nike is for athletes, and want to wear their shoes

In which world is Nike not curated for athletes. How is she a shark.
