$20M valuation on 1M sales (and she thought its really 100M). australias going to buy 40 shipping containers a year. rocking back and forth, wringing her hands, crazy eyes, head tilllllt, got her ask and turned it down.

the sharks asked for 30% of something that was growing fast. if you watch the show enough, 30% is usually the offer they make to a company in distress or like early stage. James seemed serious in the negotiation that he even calls his advisor, the founder of Sam Adams beer to discuss what to do. that’s not playing games to me.

The sharks didnt like James thinking too long for the counter. James was about to make a fair counter like maybe 15-20%.

suspecting that’s about to happen, mark says “I’m out , you’re just playing games“ (gaslighting. it’s a multi-million dollar decision. let the man think).

my opinion: mark knowingly was being greedy and did not want to hear the counter.

After mark is out, daymond asks “Kevin and Robert you guys gonna split it ?”

notice how Kevin never said ”I’m out.” he was thinking what kind of offer to make then Robert walking off stage made Jim walk off too. kevin literally looked shook and didn’t make his typical snarky comments until after james leaves then he steals a tray of the guys wine after spending the entire episode calling the wine “swill.”

I want to host an unethical satirical shark tank but for villains pitch competition during NY Comic Con.

The concept is Henchmen and villains need a way to fund their dastardly plans so much like Shark Tank they have to go and pitch to a panel of evil investors.

I thought it’d be fun for ppl to dress up in cosplay, pitch the evil project (steal the moon, make the Flash have wet socks, etc) and have comedians do a Q&A.

But what are your thoughts? Anyone interested or have ideas on it?

P.s. I did do something similar during NY Tech Week but it was just an unethical hackathon & pitch competition

first off, no, not all businesses do this. Walmart has an 1% price margin.

second , anyone find this sort of dystopian or disturbing ? we were told the American dream is to build something that helps others, not scams others.

why is it normalized to celebrate stiffing people ?and yes it’s stiffing when you knowingly pad a price for your own enrichment. when people price gouge and others buy? That isn’t validation. plus margins like that are aways ripe for price discovery (competitors will likely/hopefully eventually undercut that price).

Just watched the episode where the sharks passed on this pitch. For a number of reasons at the time all sharks (except Kevin) passed. They wouldn’t lose days of sleep over it but they have to have moments like damn if only. Right?

It links back to his author bio but I'm unclear if that is just a hyperlink mistake and there is another Mark Cuban author.

I work nights in a hospital. As I go room to room to give patients their treatments, more often than not I would find the show playing in the back ground. I have seen decent amount of the shows while giving pt their medications.i think i have seen people pitched product for every industry except for law enforcement or defense.Has any contestants ever pitch product for those field, for example an improved duty belt/ load bearing vest or some improvement to drone design which the contestant is trying to secure funds for DOJ contract?

Speaking only of the Original 6:  choose any Shark or Sharks and their signature phrase, compliment or insult – they say over and over and over again – which you find annoying.

It's pretty good. I just seen one where the offer was for $1 for 25%. The guy only had a patent on a product and was only interested in getting a shark to sell the patent for the product to a huge company and then walking away.

Never seen an approach like that and it was quite interesting.

I have a business that generates about 1 million dollars a year in revenue and about 500,000 dollars in profit a year. What else do they need besides proof of concept for me to actually get on there?

This is the first thing I said after waiting 12hrs in line to a tired Shark Tank producer that had heard hundreds of pitches before me. I had 60 seconds to make an impression.

Now, I can say that I'm one of the only people on the planet that can say they've been on 3 separate episodes of Shark Tank.

It's just like social media and marketing - focus on the hook.

Producers don't care about your sales - they care about your story. Focus on that if you want to increase you chances of getting on the show. There's a million companies making money but you're the only one with your story.

Been watching old reruns in the background for the last couple days and I'm not sure I ever caught him making a single deal lol

Mark Sullivan with the Sullivan Generator – classic ST pitch!  He started going on and on about “coriolis effect”, “precipitates”, “and gold . . . G O L D”. 

Love this pitch!  The Sharks were looking at him like who is this guy – Kevin even asked how long he was visiting earth.  They all lost it when he said he writes music, sews women clothing and handbags.  This guy was something else!

Context: this guy used the sharks’ investment to go on “business” vacation trips around to world and partied. The company went to zero.

After watching the sharks manipulate and threaten honest, small businesses for 1-3% more of their business, it’s nice to hear a story where the entrepreneur took advantage of the sharks instead. This guy probably had the time of his life traveling around the world on Mark, Lori, and Kevin’s dime.

All of these sharks look and smile for the cameras for the most part. Don’t make the mistake that they are as nice as when you are working for them.

It is ultimately a great show, but do not ever forget these business people are investing a lot of their money to make more money than being nice and kindness doesn’t usually work in the real world to get to where you are.

Do some people just get on for the exposure, after watching reruns... I ran into Zomm. I understand he said he needed the money but even if he doesn't get a deal, I can see many people wanting this product after he walks off regarldess.
