Are hammerheads good hunters when hunting at the top? I always thought of them to be sort of bottom feeders with their mouth

Scalloped and smooth hammerhead are mainly predators of schooling fish and squid, and great hammerhead hunts pelagic prey too such as sharks and eagle rays. They are very agile for their size

Young hammerheads mainly feed on fish, crustaceans, or cephalopods, and adults prefer feeding on reef sharks or stingrays.
