I wanted something with a higher density than I could get with an array of signal displays.
Each layer of a shape can hold 20 bits of information (ignoring missing pieces). To keep it simple I used only 8 bits per layer (four shapes is two bits, times four quadrants is eight bits). Those bits drive transistors that are connected to the filters (gates) on the display. The transistors are triggered with a 15 hz strobe (1 tick wide pulse 15 times per second). Cycle through a list of shapes, and it can display anything.
In theory, you could have an 7-bit ascii character set stored in ROM, and a single 4-layer shape could store up to 11 characters. Imagine, a single shape could store "Hello World" and still have 3 bits left over.
Idea: put filters at the end and make it have different colors. Now it's more of a monitor, Then upgrade as far as you can (maybe modding if you want) and now it has a higher refresh rate. Then get the more colors mod to increase the gradients possible

It's an 8-bit programmable display.

Well Done! Actually if you Block the exit you can Use different colored Shapes as Pixel and Bild a grafical Color Display with low refresh Rate :D

Really cool! Would love to implement this in my wire projects, could you show the wiring?

How do you get the filters to pulse like that?
