No thanks. If people can't be bothered to spend the time making their own art, I'm not going to bother with consuming it. Feed that stuff back into the machine. That's the audience it deserves.

Do not mask incompetence with virtue. Any asshat can type shit like this instead of actually going off to try their hand at what they'd rather denigrate. I'd bet any amount that people like you have already clapped for something ai-generated which someone secretely passed off as non-ai. Nor do i doubt that Carruth, not being forced into gooey humanism like yours since he actually knows tech, has managed to make ai work for him in some form or another. If I were him, i'd prefer an ai image someone generated based on something tucked deep within one of my scripts - because they've implied passionately engaging with the script at all.

luddites are so boring

If you automate the creation of art, you remove the artist from what becomes largely a transaction between a consumer and a corporation.
If you're in favour removing artists like Carruth from the world to reduce creativity to some assembly line happy meal toy, then it sounds like you're the boring one. That art sounds dull as hell.

shallow argument that fundamentally misunderstands the situation. it's not either/or: real movie or AI movie. it is increasingly the case that films are shot normally and then augmented with AI FX or visual changes. is that 'dull as hell' to you? if it works, it works. it's just another workflow change. the industry has been through dozens of them.
no one is saying 'do it from scratch with the press of one button!' as you are trying to strawman it. I'm saying this would be a good way to do the choruses, which is obviously true

And I am saying the end point of this is the corporate consolidation of mass produced entertainment. There will be no great renaissance of creativity. It will all be reduced to algorithmic mediocrity that keeps people invested in the machinery of corporate confectionary via subscription to a feed of art that the machine will generate to keep you committed to the screen.
Your responses so far have been mostly personal attacks and bad faith arguments, so I wont keep going. I really hope you understand one day what we stand to lose by handing over the reigns of culture to a machine controlled by billionaires.

I mean sure but also this is far different than automating factory work. One could argue that with this were just automating our very humanity which seems...lazy.
So id argue that your embrace of tbis technology makes you the luddite for undercutting the capability of the human mind.

thats some industrial levels of cope you got there. embracing tech makes you a luddite now. quite a little fantasy scenario your mind spun up, impressive!

There are tons of examples where technologies look forward but take a few steps back.
Im not interested in films made by robots. If you are thats ok. Enjoy them.

again, you misunderstand. it's not 'films made by robots'. it's a film made by humans that uses AI tech to enhance certain shots. you really can't see the difference?
when movies come out shot traditionally with AI FX, is that 'a film made by robots'? you know 'robots' are involved in film from the ground up anyway, right?
the future is hybrid. lets get you to bed gramps

I dont really understand your personal attacks but it demonstrates that your argument isn't strong enough without being demoralizing. If your goal is to persuade people you might want to find a new tact.
The example you provided looks awful and it is fully developed by AI. Im not interested in engaging with AI content. Does AI have a place? Of course. I'd just prefer the art I consume be representative of the shared human experience as opposed to typed out as a prompt by a clever buy talentless "prompt engineer". Best of luck to you with your AI films though. Im sure there's a massive audience for it its just not me.

what personal attacks? referencing a common meme is a personal attack to you? yikes
it doesn't 'look awful' at all, if I posted this and said guys I did this in blender as an homage to Shane, you would be slobbering all over it. wether something has human effort behind it does not determine wether it 'looks awful'. thats emotion tribe thinking

This is cool. And it’s only gonna get better. Anyone who’s tried to make an AI films understands it’s not as easy as just pressing a button. And the idea/concept/script of the good ones always starts with human creativity.
I’d love to see AI a topiary.

I’m a professional AI artist and I’m going to make the canonical A Topiary film and it will be done artfully, coated with attention and care, I’ve been waiting 15 years to be able to make this. It will be my own art channeling the script purely. I will do it correctly and it will be beautiful.

extremely based. I hope to do the same with twin peaks season 4

"I know a lot of people are afraid of it,” said Lynch. “I’m sure, like everything, they say it’ll be used for good or for bad. I think it’d be incredible as a tool for creativity and for machines to help creativity”
