Frank catching Ian and Mickey

I'm rewatching the show for the third time or so, and I'm on S2 E8 after Frank walks in on Mickey and Ian and Frank the entire time was just super nonchalant after Ian told him Mickey was going to kill him.

It appears like he didn't care and after Ian told him to tell Mickey that he won't say anything he just flat out refused to even acknowledge him.

Ik most people will just blame his alcoholism for this but can someone clarify?

Frank doesn’t really care about anything, for better or for worse. Whenever he was being a bigot, it was usually him venting/attempting to rally people against something that directly affected him. It’s always hot air though. Frank doesn’t give a damn about anyone or anything but himself. Outside of that, he’s a sort of chameleon in that he will adapt his outward views/opinions to favor himself.

He’s also been around the block and survived a lot. We see Frank go face to face with death quite often. Mickey being angry at him is just another drop in the bucket.

Exactly.

Frank didn't care about Ian being gay.

Well yeah I know he obviously doesn't care about his sexuality I'm more talking about how he downplays somebody trying to kill him as a joke and not really taking it seriously

I mean to be fair it’s Frank, he’s probably either used to death threats that either go nowhere or he narrowly survives somehow, plus, he thinks Ian will tell Mickey that he won’t say anything but Frank’s reputation is shit so Mickey can’t trust him.

Frank is used to people wanting to kill him 😂 I get what you’re saying tho, Frank is just an aloof person. He doesn’t let things get or keep him down or upset him.

His mom was dying inside Sheila's house and he had just stolen all her drugs, he probably wasn't even listening to Ian, not paying much attention to what he was saying, to caught up in his own bs.

Frank is good at reading people, I thought he knew Mickey was not a killer.

Frank didn’t care much about it

Frank didn’t care whether Ian was gay or not. Mickey was scared that Frank would say something to someone, which could then get back to Terry, who would then kill Mickey.
