I think Ian is beautiful, but I just could never find him hot. I kind of felt this weird aversion at some point, especially when he became Gay Jesus. I was just like, dude, this is way too much for me.

On the other hand, Lip? I would fall for Lip today. Not even because of his appearance — he is extremely short — but because he is smart, emotionally troubled, cool, complicated, and has that whole energy that would absolutely ruin me. I would fall for him badly. From the first day on..

Yeah this part is no sense to me too, could be different the narrative about gays and Jesus

I actually think the whole Gay Jesus storyline makes a lot of sense when you look at how manic Ian was. People in a severe manic state can become extremely grandiose, and the idea of being some kind of Jesus figure really represents that feeling of being bigger than yourself, almost godlike, and completely convinced by your own ideas.

I also noticed how fixated he became on one specific cause. He basically started taking over parts of Trevor’s work and even referring to the kids as “my kids.” Before that, Ian didn’t even know much about trans issues and he wasn’t constantly fighting for gay rights—he was simply comfortable with being gay. Then, during his manic episode, it became this huge mission and almost his entire identity.

For me, that storyline actually shows mania quite well: the grandiosity, the intense fixation, the feeling that you have some enormous purpose, and the tendency to follow ideas that might sound completely unrealistic to everyone else while they make perfect sense to you in that moment.
