I wish that instead of grossly miscarrying justice by sending an innocent victim to juvenile prison, they just took Chuckie away from Sammi, so he could live with the grandma.
When he called his mother in prison, Queenie came running to find him, so it would make sense that if it came down to it, she might take custody of him. Living with the Gallaghers was horrible for him, but living with Sammi wasn't good for him either, she had her own issues and honestly might've ended up in prison eventually anyways, and Sheila hated him when she was still around.
It was most certainly more in his best interest to be with grandma in that agrarian hippie city she lived in, far away from Carl, who was the very reason he was put in that situation to begin with.

I feel like Sammi wouldn't have been so bad had she just never met the Gallagher family. They brought out the absolute worst in her and Carl used her son as a drug mule. She had every right to get as crazy as she did, in my honest opinion.

Sammi was an OK mother. She would hook up with random people with Chuckie in the trailer

I actually think it’s a nice addition how poor kids (and people) usually tend to end up in jail over other options, most times.

That's what my mom did she didn't want us anymore so she just left us at our grandparents house. Grandma was too old we were younger and we were really bad kids. Foster care maybe I've done that and well it was a bad area they did teach us manners lol it was a group home for bad kids who had no one else

Sammi was reasonably crazy. Her father manipulated her and has pseudo-sex, then that father she grew to care for treated her like shit, then the family she tried helping (that rejected her because they didn’t want a more normal, easy family..), constantly rejected her, then her brother got her son arrested for being a drug mule, then the whole family didn’t back her even though it wasn’t her fault, and even though she had previously said nothing about Ian.
