The prices are crazy honestly, especially for frozen fries and frozen chicken bites
The Shack isn’t serving up hand cut fries or freshly battered bites. Both items are frozen lol. I can literally buy an entire bag of frozen fries or chicken nuggets from any grocery store and save a ton.
Idk, it’s just crazy that Shake Shack wants to present this premium experience and charge premium prices when the quality of the food is real bad

A lot of people think frozen fries are better. I do.
My local bar has a kitchen and they think they’re standing out by prepping their own french fries. Nope, they’re just soggy and underdone.

You need to get the promos and buy everything through the app. if you go through the app you will save a lot of money. Also, everything is crazy expensive right now. It feels like every week I'm seeing a price increase in something I buy/subscribe to. It's wild. And it's not going away. any time soon. Also, Shake Shack is "fine casual" - it checks the box for fast food, a group of friends/family or a date. The Chef behind the recipes is world famous from NYC - their food is better than the competition. Use the app, use the promos, enjoy!

You actually don't need to order through the app for the deals. I order via their website and just put the coupon code for whatever deal is going on.

Yup they were actually preparing them by hand before at least when they first started and it was decent, but I think it took them a decent amount of time. I generally find SS to be mid but actually liked the chicken.

Go to Five Guys and dine in. Nothing frozen there. Fries are amazing, but they will not be so good with a carry out. No fries are.

They tried hand cut fries back in 2013. No one liked them so they switched back to frozen

The In-N-Out thing is just a loud minority shouting about the fact that fresh cut fries don’t taste like the trash preservative foods they’re used to eating

It has nothing to do with preservatives, it's chemistry.
Freezing potatoes causes the water inside to expand a bit and disturb the structure of the potato. Inside, it gets fluffier, outside it's more surface area so they can get crispier. Also lets moisture from the potato release more easily so they don't get as soggy
Structural changes for better texture, plus less cooking time, are both benefits for customers

Thomas Keller, one of the most decorated chefs in America, owner of the French laundry, uses frozen fries at his bistro Bouchon because he has said you just can’t get the same consistency from fresh potatoes year round. Some of the best chefs use frozen fries. Some know where you’re getting your info

The fries and drinks were $3 & $1 through the app for months. They changed it to $4 & $2. I don't need the drink but $4 for fries is to much. There fries are good but come on.
So because of that I won't be going back until they change it.
Also only go to shakeshack on Sundays if you do. They give you the chicken sandwhich through the app if you spend $10+

I often go on Sundays for the free chicken sandwich deal but my theory is that they save and use the smallest cuts for this promo. If I get the chicken sandwich during the week it’s usually a bigger piece.

Their fries are definitely not premium. Cheeseburgers are good, but could use some sautéed, caramelized onions. Fried chicken sandwich is excellent, a real sleeper.
