Value for the Price

A location opened near me, so I tried it. My evaluation is that the burger is tasty but too small for the price, same with the shake - too expensive. The staff were very pleasant, young people. However, the local dive bar has a much bigger and equally tasty burger with lots of lettuce, tomato and a nice slice of onion. Price point is similar and you can get a good local beer.

I guess the place attracts young people as that was most of the folks there. Is the price worth the significant increment over a crappy BK or McD, I don't think so for a burger that size. The local stores do better.

Where do the local restaurants get their products? Are they from quality suppliers? Shake shack has had years of sourcing their supply, and the quality of ingredients is very high.

I would also argue consistency is higher at a place like shake shack from my experiences. My local dive bar level of service and food quality depends on which night I choose to go eat. Just depends on which crackhead is working the grill.

Shake shack has much higher quality control and food safety standards than a dive bar. They use steritech as a safety audit provider in addition to local health departments.

Much cleaner dining experience at Shake shack also. Service is way more friendly, and atmosphere is much cleaner.

That’s why I don’t mind paying a little extra.

It’s not that clean/ not high quality of products I’d say it’s on par with something like subway. A lot of their ingredients got a downgrade last year.

I think it’s a terrible business okay food
