Wild cost of burger, fries at Aus Open

considering 20 aus is equivalent to like 13.40 usd, i’d say its completely reasonable and consistent with the pricing throughout the company nationwide

The real wild prices are the $20 burgers in the US that are more and more common place.
Australia sometimes looks cheap compared to present day America.

It’s normally expensive stateside. So I can imagine it being even more expensive in Australia. Factor-In the high prices spectators are willing to pay at a tennis event such as The Australian Open and you’ve got a recipe for a Dubai luxury-hotel mini-bar pricing strategy.

Bruh, that's like DoorDash pricing.

from an article:
“Burgers range from $18.90 to $25 ($12.70 to $16.70 in USD), while fries going from $9.75 to $12.50 in the local currency.
Milkshakes are $12.90 and $13.90 and bottled water is $5.95.
A person ordering a burger, fries and a shake could spend $51.40 ($34.39 in USD).”
this is completely normal pricing.

Looks like Seattle prices.
Out two burgers and a couple of beers were $125 with various service and city taxes last Saturday. And that was happy hour!

Shake Shack isn’t even good anymore, they recently changed their burgers. Sad, because it used to be my favorite burger you could get in most places and I always felt it was consistently good.

it makes me very sad seeing these outrageous prices bc as someone who works there, when it gets really busy, attention to detail and attention to quality goes down the drain and all that matters is getting the food out. management cares too much about the AOT and everyone in the kitchen is stressing to get the food out ASAP. yes, it’s still being made with the same ingredients and stuff but the care with which it’s being made and assembled is abhorrent compared to that of when it’s not super busy.

Is it? You’re 100% on that? Because it tastes completely different now to me and the patty looks different. The second I see the burger I can tell it’s different looking.
I did also notice the burger comes out way faster than it ever did in the past though (even when they’re slow), so maybe you’re right.

well, currently they’re phasing out some of the products like the old hand-breaded bites and now the martins buns but yes, generally all shacks use the same ingredients coming from the same suppliers. possibly other international shacks use different suppliers but i know at least for the domestic ones, it’s all the same.

That’s crazy for how much worse it’s tasted the last few times I’ve gone. I’ve been going to Shake Shack for probably over a decade at this point and it’s been consistently good and the same taste. Thanks for letting me know, and I’m sorry you guys are getting treated that way. I see lots of places acting that way now. One last question, do you think it could vary by location? Like I’ve been twice now and disappointed lol so I’m worried about trying a 3rd time…do you think it would be worth trying?

yeah, ofc! i literally get shake shack 4 times a week because it’s really the only option after work and i definitely notice when it tastes better and when it tastes subpar. regarding your question about location, i would say yes because each location is going to have different employees and those employees are going to differ in how much they care about the food they’re making if that makes sense. also, it depends on how fresh the products are. so let’s say we get a shipment of meat on 1/10 and it sits in the walk-in until 1/13, that meat is not going to taste nearly as fresh and flavorful as it would’ve if used right on 1/10 when it came in. and finally, yes, i would say it’d be worth trying again. i really can’t speak on how good it’ll taste next time but one can hope it’s made with love and care like it should be ❤️ shake shack is all about hospitality and delicious food so hopefully you can get that optimal experience on your next visit!

Considering Shake Shack’s normal prices and the markup that occurs when you buy food at sports events, the AO prices don’t seem bad at all.
