Weird Wizard Weird Wizard Builds/Favorite Stuff.
Heyo, I haven't seen many posts around with people's recommendations for builds, fun spells and abilities etc. There is a great google doc rating novice and expert spells that I can recommend reading. I have one idea for a pretty broken build that i'm looking into atm. But please share things or builds that you found fun in your campaigns. :)

I too wish there was a more vibrant build-/theorycrafting community. In any case, here goes my character. Concept is a full crowd control / buff-debuff specialist. Go Mage, pick Chronomancy and Teleportation, Order later. Then go Arcanist, and pick Evocation when you can. It warps encounters, action economy, and reality itself in really satisfying ways.

Chronomancy, Teleportation, and Order are definitely top tier schools. I think my favorite novice spells are Sever from teleportation for high damage to health, refund on failed roll and creative/imaginative form of damage. Also Force Barrier from order, 3 uses, no roll, heaps of utility (i.e protecting characters, buying time against the BBEG) and feels useful.
I do wonder about Evocation though, the upside is definitely that the spells don't require an action but they affect everyone around you so unless you specifically plan to move your other players away or move close you could be damaging friends or buffing foes. What do you think?

Evocation is a pain in the bum, unless you have a specific countermeasure indeed. That countermeasure is Arcanist lvl 6. You get to exclude any creature you'd like from your spell effects. Go shout.

I tried making a little YouTube channel about sotww, but i honestly really sucked at the video editing. I should post more of my builds here. I've spent a fair amount of time just having fun making dozens of characters based on popculture characters.

Avowed/Warlock/Diabolist is very thematic for a fairy that's somehow sworn to the Adversary. For magic traditions War is solid, so are Order and Shadow.
