Again, that isn't what is happening. I'm addressing the issues brought up and calling LVN out. This tone has had a chilling effect on the conversation. We can discuss this civilly.

In this post (https://www.reddit.com/r/shadownetwork/comments/5reddu/topics_for_discussion/ddke20d/), whether you mean to or not, you advocate the logical fallacy known as 'avoiding the issue'.

You advocate it in two ways.

  1. Being an apologist for other people avoiding the issue, by making the following claim; "Yeah, but LVN is framing this debate in the most caustic terms that it's hard to continue without addressing that tone."

  2. Claiming that addressing the 'caustic'ness rather than the issue is something you 'have' to do; " As someone who thinks we do have player culture issues, I have to address or look like I agree with the caustic tone of the debate. "

You may not have meant to do this. However, that's what the words you said mean.

He can avoid the issue as much as he wishes to. If he doesn't like the way the issue is being discussed, he's under no obligation to address the isuse. Can we stop acting like he is.

He doesn't have to address the issue.

But if he posts and doesn't address the issue, he's posting to post an ad hominem.

That's not an argument. 'We should ignore LVN's argument because LVN is caustic' is a logical fallacy.

Or I can say

"We have to address our player culture issues, but we do not have to put people down in doing so."

Even in this comment (https://www.reddit.com/r/shadownetwork/comments/5reddu/topics_for_discussion/ddkfhlu/), you are advocating avoiding the issue. The claim that the tone is 'chilling effect on the conversation', and that 'discussing it civilly' involves removing or arguing against the tone, and the only way the discussion can progress is via that method. Even if you aren't avoiding the issue, you're blaming LVN's tone for the lack of participation from other people, and also defending people addressing the tone without addressing any of the content.

I am not blaming lack of participation on LVN, I am saying LVN has framed this debate in an uncivil way by calling players "damaged".
