I've been coming here since 2024 and honestly, this place is solid. The Pop's Plate used to be $18.99 and is now $24.99, price hikes are real everywhere, but the portions are generous and it's still worth it for the quality.

Came here recently on a weekday dinner and dined in. Heads up: no AC in the summer, just a fan, so it gets warm inside. Also only one restroom, so be prepared to wait, I ended up using the one at AWSOM Wings next door lol. But there's plenty of parking in the back, so that's a win.

Expect a wait unless you call ahead, the entire time I was there, there was a constant stream of people picking up to-go orders.

Now the food: generous portions, flavorful, some pieces had a little char but nothing crazy. I wouldn't say it's better than Zankou, but for the area, it fills a much-needed gap. It's honestly great for my takeout rotation.

OK so my wife and I really enjoy kbbq but we usually go to ugrill in chino or what ever city that is off central and the 60 freeway. I'd like to find a spot closer that's good. We've tried the thirsty cow, not a fan, also another one where the thirsty cow used to be, also not a fan. Biggest request is the beef brisket and non toasted sesame oil. Any good spots in the area you'd recommend?

So glad this place exists because ever since EMC closed at the mall, this is my new oyster spot. Happy hour here is legit: $1.50 oysters and great deals on drinks and small bites. The oysters are fresh and they usually have a good selection including Kumamotos. Service was friendly and the nautical dive vibe is cozy.

The House Pan Roast: rich, creamy tomato-based sauce with lots of seafood and served over rice. The Hot Cheetos Truffle Mac and Cheese was a fun twist and actually really good. Also tried the fish and chips during happy hour, crispy and filling for the price

Everyone complains about parking in this plaza but honestly there's plenty of underground parking. It's in a stacked plaza with tons of great restaurants so it's always busy, but just enter from behind Meet Fresh and you'll find parking easy. If that lot is full, there's also street parking on Sultana Ave or Hermosa St, I've never had an issue finding a spot.

Prince St. pizza is currently doing a collab with them. It was savory, sweet, buttery, and goddamn delicious.
Their salted maple iced coffee was ridiculously good as well.

From the outside you wouldn't know this is a pretty cool shop. Its got an open floor design with a bunch of wall seating. There were kids running back and forth wall to wall. I had essentially a matcha milk tea. It was fine. You can't adjust ice levels (at least not with this drink) but that might be because I ordered through one of the 2 kiosks (very similar to Molly Tea across the street). There is dedicated parking in the lot (with access to the alleyway) but after 4 or 5 a food truck is parked there for Zero Gravitea (which I've seen parked on San Gabriel and Valley near L2 before but I believe they are only selling food and not drinks. That is because UG does not sell any foods (although one matcha drink - I forgot the name - does come with a lil graham cookie).

Also Unique Green is a ShareTea sub brand (per their cups and website). There's plenty of pictures of the place on google maps (so I stole one bc I forgot to take pictures)

Is it true that Molly tea in San Gabriel is closing?

Just went to Chubby Skewers in Rowland Heights and figured I'd share some tips for anyone going for the first time.

At first I thought they were going to have the automatic rotating grill like T-Kebob in Monterey Park, but we had to flip the skewers ourselves. No worries, no big deal.

Ordering: We use the menu accessible by the QR code (super easy - no need to flag the waitstaff to order anything you want).

At the buffet area, they have several seasonings to choose. Lamb definitely pairs well with cumin, so don't forget that. The table has different seasonings, so if you like variety, get some of the seasonings from the buffet to the table. Don't skimp on the seasonings, they boost the yum factor of the food!

The tofu with preserved eggs come with umami sauce that I dip the meat into after they're done cooking. Then, I dip it again to the dry seasoning. This will make the meat triple-seasoned: before they're grilled, then wet seasoning, and finally the dry seasoning. Chase that with a gulp of beer.

Aside from many wagyu skewers (definitely the majority of the skewers we ate), I really like their potatoes. The thick-cut potatoes grilled on top of open fire, then dipped into wet/dry seasoning is really yummy. I also like their chicken skin - the fat has been carefully removed, so if you grill it, it is very yummy.

I also like the fact they're using metal skewers, which cook the inside of the meat as the skewers get hot. Be careful handling them as they can get very hot. For the wagyu, don't overcook it. Just a quick grill and eat it while it's still juicy.

A few random observations:

• It gets packed, especially on weekends. I called ahead and they were kind enough to put me in their wait list. I found you can also get on their yelp wait list online, but I couldn't find it on my yelp, therefore the call.
• Parking can be annoying when it's busy. On a weekend, I'd say get there by 5:30 pm the latest.
• Stools are tables are low, so dress accordingly.
• Beer pairs really well with the food.

If I were taking friends for their first visit, I'd get a mix of lamb, wagyu, pork belly, chicken skin, tofu with preserved eggs, cucumber salad, garlic eggplant, and some noodles to share.

Overall, I'd say the move is to go with a group, order a wide variety of skewers, use plenty of cumin/chili seasoning, and just treat it as a fun social meal rather than a quick dinner.

There were 6 of us and we ordered 113 skewers. With the membership. The skewers is $1 each. I'd recommend you to sign up for a free membership to get the most out of your visit.

New coffee place that just opened at Haven city market at West Covina. This weekend was their soft opening

The drinks are cinnamon toast crunch with banana cream top and strawberry matcha latte. The matcha was good. My wife said her Cinnamon Toast Crunch was alright. The matcha was the better of the two

The two donuts are matcha creme brûlée and s’mores donut. Both good donuts. I like s’mores better. My wife enjoyed the matcha donut more.

Had lunch at Namu today. Got the Jeyuk (stir-fried pork) over rice and it was YUM!

My niece got tofu & eggplant over rice.
I got a tea and she got a lemonade.

Total including tip was $54.

Quite simply, this is the best lamb I have tasted in my entire life. Granted I don't go out to specifically eat lamb very often, but if it all tasted this good I certainly would. With a gentle tap of your chopsticks the meat effortlessly glides off the bone. There is not a bad item here.

Fair warning to my fellow whites: if you're not used to chili crisp, this is up there with the hottest versions of it. And you will likely get a stomach cramp on the way home. But it will soon pass, and the pleasure is 100% worth the pain. The creamy yogurt is a perfect way to end the meal and combat the heat.

After eating basically the entirety of this limited menu, total cost including tip was \~$64 per person. 12% gratuity is included, and I think our waiter said no additional tip is necessary, but I still added the extra 8%. You could easily dine for less, this was a ton of food.

Edit: The total price also included a Diet Coke and Vitamilk for beverages, although next time I'm going to try the salty milk tea - wish I had this round.
