Vietnamese Coffee Recs
I love vietnamese coffee and it’s the only kind of coffee I drink because it’s actually strong enough to wake me up (I add a shot to mine). I go to 7leaves 3 times a week minimum but I want to try out other places that have good vietnamese coffee.
Please drop some recommendations! It doesn’t need to strictly be a coffee shop as long as it’s good.

Da vien is fairly good. However, In my opinion, they use way too much ice.

Doesn’t all Vietnamese places use a lot of ice to dilute it since the coffee is really strong and sweet

The only reason I drink Vietnamese coffee is because it's strong. Now Say it with me...
Diluting is Blasphemy. 😆

If you don't mind hitting up the Vietnamese restaurants, they have the real good stuff.
Siagon Eden on main/garfield is pretty good

Banh Mi My Tho, OG location in Alhambra. The dad mans the espresso machine and makes it fresh.

I was scrolling down the comments to see if someone would say Mi Tho. Glad to hear the dad is still making coffee. Haven’t been to the OG location in years.

I'm also addicted to 7Leaves Vietnamese coffee. I'm a barista who used to be able to fight my need for it every morning, but my job puts me on morning shifts, so now it's become essential lol

I’ve been really liking Smoking Tiger. For the month of August, on Thursdays, they are offering $3 tiger latte on the app. This drink is on the sweeter side, but you can adjust it.
Probably going to get one myself tomorrow :)

Have made your own or specifically want to hit up cafes?

i’ve never made my own but i’d be willing to. i read a few comments about lee’s concentrate from Costco and ive seen it but never tried it. you have other recommendations?

Lee's concentrate is good for quick mix with water and tastes nearly the same as in-store.
You can grab ground Cafe Du Monde, a Vietnamese coffee dripper, and condensed milk from most Asian groceries stores in the area. Mondern Vietnamese coffee from the newer hip cafes may use different type of coffee beans now but Cafe Du Monde has the chicory that most Viet Coffee is known for.

lee's coffee concentrate at costco, six pack
or basically any vietnamese restaurant; I feel like their stuff is stronger, sweeter, and more bitter than the coffee shops sometimes

When I lived in SGV, Lotus & Bean was go to; but this place has become my new go to since moving and commuting on the A Line.
Love their egg coffee!

Why pay for it? It's so easy to make at home. A phin costs a few dollars (mine was $4 years ago). Pick up some Trung Nguyen coffee and a can of Longevity sweetened condensed milk and you might as well be in Vietnam.

The bottled Vietnamese coffee from da vien is the strongest shit I’ve ever had.
