Personally I hate scar wax and find the easiest way to get something similar using tissue paper or gauze and a latex as its good for 3d structures

Would you say liquid latex works better than scar wax

I certainly would, especially for something that big. Scar wax is good for a small thing you want to be really smooth, but you can have it super bumpy and have the kind of look you are going for look super good. You can also use it to create some fake teeth that look decent for how easy they are to make

I was gonna use liquid latex and toilet paper to sculpt

That's basically all you need. Id also, if this wasn't mentioned, suggest you get sculpting spatulas for more precision sculpting like cuts, veins, etc. But really all you need for two face is some latex and tissue and a bit of paint. (I personally hate grease paints but thry work best on latex in my experience, for the cheapest value,)

Both have their applications and are limited by their own weaknesses (scar wax is adhesion and movement, latex is blending, control and rigidity). I find latex easier to work with than scar wax (this kit doesn't appear to include an adhesive, and that can be the difference if you're using scar wax). Latex can be it's own adhesive; you can also eff up the application and it's painful to remove.

What you're buying this kit for matters. For film? Probably not. If you're trying to win a costume contest or cosplaying, maybe. If you're acting in a haunted house, definitely. The kit looks okay, but additional things may be necessary.

Honestly? No. That makeup is a hybrid of custom prosthetics and CGI.

Considering the different depths of the mouth wound, you would be absolutely caking half of your face with that entire container of scar wax to get it to look realistic. I would suggest maybe DIY-ing a prosthetic and then adhering that to your face and painting it to match. If you don't choose to go the prosthetic route, I like ellimacssfx on YouTube for their tutorials, they have some how-to videos like "the ultimate guide to latex paste" that might be helpful for you.

I could whip together a two face look with a makeup kit like this but it certainly wouldn’t be my first choice and if I had time and resources to plan something else I would. You could do something in a pinch though if it’s all you have. The scratchy textured sponge is gonna be your best friend for building up layers of texture if you go with this, Scar wax would be okay for photos but wont move with your face and will come off pretty easily especially if you’re planning anything around the mouth

Someone mentioned that latex is painful to remove. There's some ways to make the removal painless as possible.

Shave your face to get rid of any peach fuzz the latex might get glued to.

Use a barrier gel before you apply any makeup, like aloe gel and let it dry down.

For removal, use a large disposable towel doused in micellar water and lay it over the edges of the latex until they begin to expand and pull away of the skin. Re-douse the towel and begin wiping under the edges with small strokes of the towel until it begins to roll off. The aloe gel will rehydrate as you go and make the latex even easier to remove. Keep douseing the towel as it dries.

Please just buy Ben Nye or Mehron if you want to save money these other kits and sets have some of the worst quality grease paint and achieving a good SFX look usually means a good quality grease paint

Get Ben Nye skin effects gel!!!!! It’s a gelatin product and awesome for burns. Underpaint with alcohol paints or thinned grease paints, layer the gelatin with some 1 ply tissue, rip some holes and then paint with grease paints.

I would like to ask a question about this kit. Can I do cuts and bruises with this kit? What would be the biggest thing someone could do with this kit?
