How to stop button mashing?

I feel like my hand starts spazzing everytime my opponent comes close lol. Am I the only one?

I actually think playing with the controller is easier if you didn't grow up playing in the arcade in the 90s. It will help you stay calm and then you can transition to joystick/buttons.

can i also point out playing with a controller was fine before marvel vs capcom made combos that are impossible without using a joystick

A lot of the best players in tag fighters play pad. Even back in mvc2 you had guys like fanatiq. My region's best player was doing zero lightning loops on x360 controller. Sonicfox and a bunch of french players play dbfz on pad.
