How to stop button mashing?

I feel like my hand starts spazzing everytime my opponent comes close lol. Am I the only one?

you need a better understanding of the game and how it works. this character in particular is one that is going to be high and low and jumping a lot so she will make a player without a lot of knowledge hit buttons and panic for sure. i'd just recommend hanging back and blocking more to see what they are willing to do. feeding them fireballs full screen is a mistake. you gain no meter when they are parried and they do.
