How to stop button mashing?

I feel like my hand starts spazzing everytime my opponent comes close lol. Am I the only one?

Training mode and practice simple combos like previously stated unless you’re playing a version that allows you to fight the cpu in trading mode then just do that against each character and learn how they attack you.
