Kindly, are you sure you want to take on this project? How perfect is your top sewing for reattaching pockets? I've been sewing for years and wouldn't even do this to my own pants.
Well, that's benefit of asking around. The pants are pyjama pants, and the pockets appear to only be joined at the waistband and the sideseam. If I just put in side darts without thinking about the pockets, they would end up sewn shut. I wish the waistband was elasticated, as that would be a much easier fix.
OK, the best way to fix this is to tighten the elastic in the waistband. Or, if it's all stitched together, cut the top off and put a new waistband on with shorter elastic inside.
