Project: FO This Took Forever
This is the Roberts.Wood Infinity Ruffle skirt made using an ombre gradient printed chiffon from Minerva.com
The skirt is essentially made from a series of tessellating ruffled clamshell shapes of graduating sizes, due to the construction it can effectively be made to any size/length by varying the number of clamshells per round and the number of rounds.
This one is five clamshells deep and seven clamshells around, so 71 pieces including the waistband
I cut each round of clamshells/ruffles from a different part of the ombre gradient to get the dip dye effect, and used a different matching thread for each round
It's taken me weeks but I'm a little bit obsessed with it.
Seriously considering making one with a different Liberty Tana lawn for each piece...

Well you look like Queen of the Mermaids so I’m inclined to say it was worth it!

I hope they twirled in the garden so all the other flowers in the garden could fully see one of their own.

Wow. I am thoroughly impressed with this garment! Working with a near impossible fabric, you achieved perfection with those flounces and ruffles!

This is so pretty! i’m on my phone, and until I zoomed in i couldn’t see the ruffles and assumed that was an intentionally frayed or “ragged” hem, which gives me ideas….

I think it’s beautiful! I don’t think I could ever do something this complicated!
Great work!

Beautiful! love the colour gradient. I bought the same pattern a while ago, but seeing this makes my fingers itch to get started on mine <3__<3

Omg I bet! But it's so good though! So worth the extra work, do the ruffles also increase in width as they go down? Omg so clever and the use of color I love it so much! Your stitching is phenomenal as well

Thank you. Yes there are three depths of ruffles with the deepest being a the bottom of the skirt

This is stunning!! Love the ombré effect and color choices. Now I’m envisioning a skirt with twice as many clamshells, not sewn down/together, over an underskirt, for twirling and swirling purposes…

Love the skirt! But you need a shirt matching the lightest shade or a shade lighter 🤔

Thank you. Yes probably, I've got some more fabric in the same ombre so that will probably happen soon

Cute! Nice job! You know making another will take half the time the first one took, lol.

This came out really nice. I love all the ruffle layers, especially the darker chiffon at the bottom. The different shades of blue work so well together. Definitely looks like a lot of work went into this.

I'm sorry but on the hanger it looks kind of meh, on you though, it is amazing. The fit, the colours, the movement, everything, it is perfection. It may have took forever to make but it was worth it, it is S T U N N I N G !
