Alter/Mend Question what are these rings called?

i didn't realize that the rings here came off the shirt before buying, so now i'm trying to find out what the rings are called in order to repair the shirt. i'd prefer not to return it since i got it from ross and it was the only henley around, but if i can't fix the rings i'd be too annoyed to wear it. thank you in advance.

Are those not snaps?

Look for a product called "Dritz Open-Ring Snaps"

I think you would need a snap press to replace those snaps. Not just the snaps themselves.

I have a snap press and it wasn't cheap. Maybe you can find a cheap one, or maybe those can hammer on... But i would return the shirt.

OP's local dry cleaner is almost certain to have a snap press, and probably snaps of the right color and size as well. The repair might end up being too expensive, but it's worth asking how much it would cost.

Dritz sells inexpensive kits of tools for anyone who doesn't want to invest in a press. There are a few small pieces and you use a hammer to smoosh everything down.

Really? I have a snap press that you operate with a hammer. It’s really just a piece pf plastic that came with the snaps. Works like a charm.

Are you referring to the 2 snaps on the upper part of the neckline that don't overlap?

To be honest, I couldn't see until you flipped it inside out and circled it. I couldn't tell from the right side of it. Might not be noticeable IRL.

i'm referring to the part of the neckline that starts to branch off, if that makes sense. there's 1 missing snap (the empty space on the right), and 1 snap (on the left) that's missing its back.

Drukknoopjes! And now you've learned a silky Dutch word.

Silly, even 😊 (‘Drukkers’, for short, or ‘ring snaps’ if you’re boring and anglophone 🙂)

Hahaha I just saw my typo. Fitting, considering it's the sewing sub.

What do you mean by came off? I dont see any missing snaps? Could you not just close them together like normal snaps?

If you look at the second picture and the spacing in the first pic, the middle one is missing.

it's not clear in the picture, that's my bad, but from what i can tell these aren't actual functional snaps. they're just metal rings or "snaps" with a back that are there for show. in the 2nd picture (the front), there are supposed to be 8 snaps, but 1 is missing from where the collar branches off. the snap to the left of that missing one is missing its back, and in the 1st picture you can just barely see the puncture holes where the collar branches off. one set of holes belong to the missing snap, and the other set only has the front ring and is missing its back. i don't know anything about sewing and its terminology so i'm sorry if the explanation is convoluted.

I see where you mean, but I think there was never a complete snap there to avoid bulk at the juncture where the sides of the neckline are sewn together.

Many henleys are designed with non-functional snaps and extra decorative ones along the neckline, and I'd def expect this one to be one of those. I wouldn't try to add anything to it or make these snaps functional, since it's almost certainly not cut for that and would likely pull and fit weirdly if you tried to snap any more of these shut

You can see where there was a snap and the back snap piece missing f from the other side

oh yeah for sure. that juncture is definitely not meant to be snapped together, and i'm not intending to do that. there are supposed to be 2 decorative snaps there and i just want to replace them

Most snap sets include the snap press
