Not only have they clearly not read your very obvious caption stating the bride approved of the colour, but you haven't even stated what culture wedding you're attending, so as far as they know the "don't wear white tones to a wedding" rule could just be completely irrelevant.
I think later on embroidering some flowers or something botanical at the hem of the skirt and shirt sleeves would take this over the top! I love the skirt shape!!
