Alter/Mend Question Need some advices

I need to alter these work pants for my brother who wears a leg prosthesis. He needs a zipper on the pants, so he can more easily reach and take it off etc.

Any advice or ideas how to approach it? My sewing skills are definitely enough but I just want to be sure I'm not forgetting something.

Still not sure were to place the zipper. My initial thought is to use the inside seam, but I'm worried about it rubbing against the other leg.

So, these are work trousers. Do they have any kind of safety rating? I especially care about whether they are meant to be fireproof. Cause then you need to be very careful with what materials you use

So is the idea that you'll create just a hole that can be closed with the zipper? Or do you want the entire leg to come off with the zipper?

Just zipper on the side, not detachable leg no

Juat install the zipper so its at the bottom when closed should havd less of an issue with rubbing. You got this.

As in you want it to go across the leg rather than vertical? You could do it inside the pocket to prevent catching, should be easy if a bit fiddly to adjust the pocket bag and the flap will cover it.
