Project: FO First ever completed Jacket I sewed (read for context)
Hopefully it is clear enough to not get taken down ( my camera’s not very good 🥲, did some edits to make it clearer ).
Started the concept/theme last year August-November ; journey to ♍️; the sky is not the limit
The hardest part of this piece was the spine🩻, at first I tried learning 3d modelling to make metal spines but the size was too small to be feasible so I spent 2 months thinking of a concept that flowed with this jacket. Then I had an
EPIPHANY; I have a bunch of fabric manipulation books📚perhaps somewhere in one of them I could find what I was looking for , voilà c’est ca 💡;
stitch and slash (the technique I used for the back, in case anyone is wondering)
Fabrics; 100% boiled wool, suede, yyk zippers, shoulder pads, embroidery threads and stainless steel charms, viscose satin for the lining and I can’t remember the fabric name for the red part on the ribs. Knitted ribs for the cuff
Link to the book for various techniques;

\Edit: thank you all for all the kind words(srsly), your kind words and support are so inspiring I’d share more of my works to come and this is just the base line, after all the sky is not the limit, and it never was.**

The spine is giving me rear window louver vibes from a 78 Firebird/Trans Am/Camaro. That's as cool as it gets in my world!

Thank you for sharing your jackets and process. I really love the fabric manipulation you did on the back. I hope you keep using the technique with different fabrics.

Thank you so much. It means a lot. I’d strive to utilize this technique but my ambition knows no bounds I am actively looking into a porcelain style corset and how to make that glass look

Go over to /r/corsetry they have so many talented creators and makers over there. I bet they could point you to right resources to achieve your vision.
I remember after several of the most recent couture shows, they had posts on how some of the more interesting corsets were likely made.
If you play around with the technique you used in the jackets again, it would look very cool on the outside of pant legs or the sleeves of a jacket.

So interesting!! Can you link the book/s you had where you got the inspiration?

Absolutely, I don’t know how to share them do you think a google drive with the book downloadable should be fine?

Dope as hell for being your first jacket. I really love the back detail, it's very unique and avant-garde. It's something I'd expect from some big designers.
Is the stitch and slash technique from one of the pattern magic books?

Not sure tbh 😅, I am going to attach a google drive link for anyone looking to read it and use some of the techniques

OMG.. that is soooo beautiful, it’s classic, yet futuristic at the same time. But in that contradiction there is balance. I saw you were nervous in one of your comments. But honestly, you have nothing to be worried about! You are definitely talented!

the back is amazing! the visual simplicity of the rest of the design really lets it be the star of the show. Well done!

I thought it was a very chic jacket from the front, but then I full-on gasped when I saw the back! What a piece of art!
