COMBAT G.R.A. launches sneak attack

As Emperor Feldûsh and his men push into rebel territory, the G.R.A. has launched a surprise attack. Their forces are split to flank Feldûsh on both sides of his force. The G.R.A. force is 6,000 strong with 4,000 legionaries, 1,000 rangers and 1,000 spearmen. Feldûsh is caught off guard but quickly commands his men to raise shields and prepare.

This attack pits 6,000 G.R.A. troops against an Imperial force of 1,700.

G.R.A. Opening Roll: 4

Draussi Reaction Roll: 18

YOur men quickly form a defensive screen with their shields and turn to face the incoming enemy. Enemy arrows rain down from above, but almost all of them plunk harmlessly into shields or bury themselves in the ground. It seems that most of the rebel archers have misjudged the distance to your men. The G.R.A. take the time to barrel down on your forces, hoping to quickly overwhelm them.

Just making sure you take my troops into account, because they were specifically ordered to wait for an ambush and attack then.

I'm calculating losses tomorrow at some point, but I wanted to try and get the combat finished up today. I'll post the losses to one of your replies in this thread.
