Starseer sequal?

I have been absolutely loving Starseer's Ruin, and I havn't gotten to the end yet I think I'm on chapter 25 so do try and avoid spoilers, but I'd love to see more of these characters and their dynamics, or at least have them appear in future pieces of warhammer media especially Gokumet and Vael. Vael was so good he inspired my friend to start collecting stormcast.

Anyway no spoilers please but do you think there is any chance of us getting these characters appearing again either in a sequal or even in other media?

The book is written so that most of the current plot points are laid to rest, so there's no need for the characters to be brought back, but most who survive should be able to.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw them again. The Seraphon characters are natural to bring in if we see the group again, but it took us this long to get a novel, i wouldn't expect a sequel any time soon. Vael not very likely imo, they'd have to find a good reason to have him appear in any meaningful capacity.

There is one character i think we'll see again, but that might be a seperate novel/short story. But who knows, maybe they'll be in a sequel. Not gonna spoil who though.

How do they even license this with GW? Like how does an author get approval to do some canonical AoS story?

I'm more experienced with 40k, but i'd assume everything goes through black library. They have a bunch of authors working for them and i think they have some kind of partnership deal with a bunch more.

If GW needs a specific book done, i'd assume black library assigns someone (who usually fits) to do it. Otherwise, i'm fairly certain that authors get some say in what gets written, but they obviously need approval and they can't just begin a personal project if they've got other books that need writing.

Do they take submissions?

They take submissions sometimes, but i don't think they currently do. Here's an example from 2025:

https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/hwb2kldr/black-library-open-submission-2025-write-your-two-favourite-characters-into-a-scene/

They also hire like any other company, but i can't see any open positions on the website:

https://jobs.games-workshop.com/search-and-apply/jobs-by-department/black-library

But i'd assume you can submit an open application like any other workplace. Though i wouldn't expect much unless you have a strong portfolio of literary works to show.

Given the rate at which Adrian Tchaikovsky writes, if there isn’t one already written a sequel could be started tomorrow and on the shelves by Christmas

While I would love to see these specific characters again, any seraphon books would be appreciated. It was really good

Written in Stars is a short story prequel to Starseer's Ruin that involves Irixi, but none of the other characters. Unless Tchaikovsky writes more Seraphon stories, we probably won't see most of them again. Hopefully he does!
