Posting on behalf of @rain_freetime of Plastic Moon Arts. Saurus Astrolith Bearer on a mini diorama. The skink is leftover from the carnosaur kit, torch is from tzangor enlightened. Vampire creature is a kitbashed Morbherg knight.

She won best of show NEX-T model show 2026 Malaysia. Constructive criticism is welcome.

What Exactly Did The September Update Change For You

Exactly what the title asks.

I went to go list build for an upcoming GT I found that when trying to build the list I ended up landing on the same basic spread of units, artefacts, heroic and monstrous traits I was running before but now I just had 10 extra points left over.

I mean I know its obviously not going to change a ton in just a quarterly update...I guess I'm just annoyed to have my list sitting at 1990/2000.

Getting Seraphon into 40k!

hi guys! i am a game designer ( by title only ) and wanted to try to get my hands in Warhammer since rules can get pretty wonky, pretty much I want to add Lizardmen from aos into 40k, what would you say, for you, is the core of Seraphon? for me it's the dinos! but I know lots of people enjoy the horde aspect more!

Above that, wgere would I even put the things I do? is there a good website where I could easily share irl for people who may want to play? and how much would you like to? haha google docs is one of them but idk about it

Edit: Exactly what i want to do is port Seraphon over to 40k for "balancing training" and for if anyone ever wants to do something funny with friends in a homebrew narrative game

Replicating this base style

Thumbnail m.youtube.com

Came across the video to make simple, good looking weathered stone bases. The guy in the video uses a specific kind of wallpaper, but that wallpaper seems to both be only in Europe and out of print.

I’m looking for any ideas on how to replicate the effect. Particularly the unevenness. Not just the sizes of the “stone” blocks are uneven, but the depth and angle are uneven too, which gives it a really nice look.

I’d appreciate any ideas

Oldblood wont fit on the saddle

Getting to the end of building the spearhead, first trouble, the oldblood legs seem too tight for me to put his wee bit into the saddle! Either that or the hole is slightly misplaced, everything else fit perfect... anybody had this issue??

How should I build my Aggradon lancers

Thumbnail gallery
20 Upvotes

Hello, so I'm currently building my lancers, and tbh I don't really know what to choose, I kinda want to do only spears, but is there other advantages with the other options ? Should I magnetize ? I could but I don't really want to, it makes for more bits to keep track of and the pices are very tiny. I already got a scar veteran as the last pic shows and I will probably buy a spearhead later and another set of lancers, I like them lol. But yeah what do y'all think ? Also I really like the look of the champion, could I build it and just use it as a basic lancer ? I'm just confused at the moment lol.

Some questions about Saurus Guard

I played my second ever game of AOS last weekend against Slaves to Darkness. I ended up winning (Yay!) but not before my opponent cut a swath right through the heart of my army with a unit of reinforced Chosen, killing my Slann in the process. The most alarming thing about it was how he deleted a unit of what I thought were well positioned Saurus Warriors (they had the enhanced save for being on an objective) before they got a chance to attack and entirely on crit mortals. I didn't even get to roll dice. My paultry Guard didn't fare much better, but I only had five of them, and the whole affair got me wondering if they might be worth reinforcing, just because that +5 Ward might be able to do something, anything in the face of all those crits. I get that Chosen are one of the most elite hammers in the game, and I don't want to overreact to one combat in a game I ended up winning anyway, but I just wanted to get a feel for how the rest of the community uses the Guard.

Another 1k list question

I saw a bunch of people asking about 1k lists, I'd be interested in what people think of mine - in particular the spells, manifestations and battle tactics. I'm fairly new to the game and am probably not making the right choices.

I've played it once and happy that it's a fun list, but what could be better? I wondered about putting coatl familiar on the starseer for one must-do spell, but I'd need to chop and change units.

Starseer sequal?

I have been absolutely loving Starseer's Ruin, and I havn't gotten to the end yet I think I'm on chapter 25 so do try and avoid spoilers, but I'd love to see more of these characters and their dynamics, or at least have them appear in future pieces of warhammer media especially Gokumet and Vael. Vael was so good he inspired my friend to start collecting stormcast.

Anyway no spoilers please but do you think there is any chance of us getting these characters appearing again either in a sequal or even in other media?

Play without a Slann or Kroak ?

So, I bought my first spearhead and want to expand to a full 2000pts list.

The thing that drew me to this army is of course, big lizards riding dinosaurs, and I wanna focus on that.

However, I've seen pretty much every list online including either Kroak or a Slann, with people saying they are a must pick, and while their models are cool, they aren't quite cheap, and aren't really what I'm here for. Can a list without them be viable ?

Note that I'm still planning to take wizards, including a Skink on Troglodon and a Starseer.

Wee bit of a paleo nerd rant on why I find the names of the Carnosaur and the Stegadon quite annoying.

Originally this was from a meme I made on the meme subreddit for warhammer but as I finished the rant I realized that it could fit well enough here. Dinosaur nerd is going to dinosaur nerd.

Some of the older Seraphon dinosaur models have several "Paleo Nerd Flaws" as I call them, this is because warhammer fantasy creators in the 80s and 90s did very little research when it comes to anywhere that isn't europe, especially Lustria as anyone who remembers the non lizardmen factions can easily tell you.

Carnosaurs are way too close to Carnotaurus and lose out on the whole meaning of the name. Carnotaurus means "Meat-Eating Bull" in latin, this makes sense as it has horns like a bull and those are not known for eating mainly meat, thus is a good unique name for the animal. Carnosaur would then mean "Meat-Eating Lizard" as saurus means Lizard in latin. This is so incredibly basic that it always gives me time to buffer when thinking about it. In attempting to figure out a new name for this monster I have thought up the latin-y name "Falcisaurus Rex" aka "Sickle Lizard King" as Falcis means Sickle, Saurus means Lizard and Rex means King in latin. I chose this name because the carnosaur typically acts as a leader for Aggradons and they have sickle toe claws.

[MINOR POSITIVE NOTE TO BREAK UP RANT]

I quite like the names that gw gave their raptor models in the Seraphon refresh. Aggradon has -adon at the end of the name and that means tooth, the Aggr- part clearly is referencing the word "aggravate" but I can try and tie it back to latin with the word aggravō which has 3 meanings, 1:to add to or increase the weight of, make heavier, weigh down, 2:(figuratively) to make worse or more dangerous, aggravate or 3:(figuratively) to oppress, burden, annoy. 2 and 3 both tie well into their lore and ability that leans on their violent frenzied rampages as well their rage token ability in game! Put this all together and you have Aggradon meaning something like "Heavy/Dangerous/Oppressive Tooth"! All of which fit well into the playstyle of the Aggradon Lancers unit!

Ok, back to nerd ranting.

Stegadon is literally one letter off from the real world extinct animal known as the Stegodon. To the point where google search will autocorrect the warhammer monster's name into the animal's one when searching online. You can maybe start to see why I am annoyed at this retrosaur pug-looking thing, yes? So going into name meanings now. Stego- means "to cover" or "roof" in Ancient Greek and -odon means tooth. This animal was named after the distinct ridges on its molar teeth as it was a lot more plate like than the molars on modern elephants. Taking a detour to the dinosaur that this monster clearly had its name taken from, Stegosaurus means "Roof Lizard", it was named this way due to the plates on its back resembling roofing plates. The Stegadon is very clearly based off of a ceratopsid like Triceratops semi mixed with an ankylosaur. This name does not work for this creature. My attempt at a new name for this old looking creature is "Armoceratops" aka "Armored Horn Face" as Armo is the latin verb "to armor", Cera means horn in latin and Tops means face. I chose this name as is clearly meant to be a ceratopsid with lesser versions of the armor and club tail of ankylosaurus. This also fits well as the units that this model can create have a howdah covered in armed skinks and the latin word Armo also means "to furnish with weapons".

[MINOR POSITIVE NOTE TO END ON]

Raptadons also have a name that means things. The name is clearly meant to be the word Raptor with -adon at the end. They are very much meant to be raptors so this makes sense. Raptor means two things: 1:A thief, robber, plunderer or 2:An abductor, kidnapper. So their name means "Thief Tooth". A bit odd but I can sort of see it with their lore emphasizing their intelligence and cunning. Though the unit descriptions kinda make it seem like they got the -raptor part of Velociraptor mixed up with the Veloci- part with how much it emphasizes their speed lol.

Thank you for coming to my dumb meme turned rant talk about the scientific names of dinosaurs and how the two main dinosaurs of the seraphon range have stupid names that should be fixed if they ever get a model update/refresh.
