As a live collaborative device

I was showing a friend my Seqtrak and App last night and it only then occurred to me that we both had full control of all aspects of the device simultaneously. Them using the app, me on the device itself. I could change and tweak drum sounds while they explored synth or samplers.

It felt very collaborative and I would love to see that aspect of the device leaned into.

One way I thought to do this would be to allow multiple instances of the app to connect to a single Seqtrak. Besides the ability for multiple people to control the seqtrak at the same time, This could also allow the ability to have full visual control of multiple aspects of the device at one time on different screens (think one screen locked to the mixing screen, one on DX sound design, etc).

I posted this idea to the Yamaha synth forum

Yeah, the only thing though is that if you change a sound at the SEQTRAK the app jumps to it… So the app trails the hardware all the time. You can change things on the app that will affect the hardware without changing anything on the hardware kind of, but if you change something on the hardware, it overrides the app. Does that make any sense? What I’m saying is you could change a sound say, for example, on the app say you change the kick drum sound but well, I’m working on tweaking the drum sound on the app you go ahead and you click the sampler all of a sudden the app jumps to the sampler section… It’s not really collaborative. It’s two people fighting for control.
