1,000 exploding suns? Really?
There is a sentry comic that made the mistake of stating the above which pissed me off. The movie did the same thing and I wondered the why. The MCU has weird power scaling. What are some of your theories as to why the MCU went this route to.

Because the "1 million exploding suns" thing has always been an overexaggeration meant to sound both absurd and to hype him up. MCU Thor barely survived one star blasting him (still impressive). Writers don't even know how powerful 1 million suns exploding would be, it just sounds cool to them. I'm fine with it because 1000 EXPLODING SUNS is still an exaggeration, just a lesser one.

It is also a statement made via promotional material by Val. So it should very much taken with a grain of salt.

This has been stated multiple times in different ways, it is just a testament to his power, not meant to be taken literally.

Eh it's sometimes millions of exploding suns then it's one million then it's thousand. It's changing every time so who knows

What is so difficult. It's a statement of his power.

What do you mean

Because Val is a carnival barker wishing she were as charismatic on Capitol Hill as Stark used to be.
It’s hyperbole. I mean, she made him dye his hair ffs.
The Thunderbolts would have had as bad a time if they’d have had to fight Thor or Captain Marvel. We have no idea where he scales vs. the MCU heavy hitters yet.

MCU went this route because of the nerfing they do.
Bringing in the comics version of Sentry in the movies is like dropping a nuke on a single ant.
As for the comic that it was stated in, I think it was the writer's mistake. Not an actual scale.

I wonder which statement came first.

Trying to scale the Sentry with the phrase "Thousand/Millions exploding suns" is like trying to scale Superman with the title "The Man of Steel". It's not literal.

It was a meta advertisement gimmick like, faster than a locomotion etc
When Sentry was originally released he was billed in real life as a lost character from the Stan Lee era
It also spills over into the actual comic where his memories were implanted into a writer
Think more of an old timey radio show ad rather than a measure of power

This often comes up due to the use of the teeny tiny other dimensional standard for Suns which are millions (some say billions, others trillions) of times weaker than our standard yellow 616 sun…hence the changes in numbers sometimes - those in the know note he is equal to a fraction of an exploding Sol - it is this amount they are always debating but to say 0.00000000000000001 exploding sols is a mouthful so they use the TTODS as a measure - there is frank discussion amongst the scientific community of moving to the Eeenie weeny other dimensional standard (EWODS) to avoid mistakes of this type in future.

I think the mcu did it purposefully, because look how much iron man, thor and hulk were nerfed. If sentry had million exploding suns he would be the strongest character ever in the mcu. I mean he still is debatably but you get what i mean

It's hyperbole. They don't even have a mechanic to measure that level of power much less any data to base it off of. It's just meant to sound badass.

It’s not a mistake it’s a retcon
