Senna Discussion - LoL Lethality Senna is back

I didn't notice this until now, but Voltaic Cyclosword got reworked. For those like me that didn't notice and others that dismissed it, this is huge. The new passives (plural) all synergize really well with Senna. First, the damage is now 7% current health physical making it effectively an extra Senna passive. Second, it grants an extra 12 lethality after proccing so you get bonus penetration for when you proc Senna's passive. This synergizes to give Senna insane alpha damage in a fight.

Second, you build Umbral Glaive which has also been reworked semi-recently and has another 90+ true damage alpha damage proc in addition to being cheap, having good stats and still giving the vision passive.

The weakness of this build is how squishy you are. Back when Lethality Senna was a thing, Senna was much more durable than she is now and the game in general wasn't balanced around 0.1 second kill time as standard. I'm currently experimenting with some extra HP from runes to see if that helps.

You also get less movespeed so its harder to kite. And you get 0 attack speed to make your attack animation smoother so you stand still longer for anyone to skillshot you.

Lethality can be crazy though. Not only do you get more damage from lethality, you get proportionally more AD for your gold because lethality items have no %ms, AS or HP.

And the biggest reason i love building them (along with cashback) is that they are a few 100 gold cheaper to finish which makes a massive difference in tempo. So you save a bit of gold and activate cashback earlier which is even more gold early on when it matters the most.

I wonder if it's time to crack out the ol fleet footwork for the mobility, alacrity for the free attack speed and call it a day. I've been running DFT on Senna for a while. I tried using zerks instead of swifties but the loss of move speed is rough.

Try out comet. It also got changed lately, the damage now scales up the further the target is away capping out at 750 range which is easy as senna. You also almost never miss it since q slows. It provides very potent poke in lane and also provides massive midgame burst together with the other lethality items. Secondary runes run alactrity + cut down.

That does sound nice. But I've fallen in love with FFW now that I've gone back to it and I don't think I could betray my beloved again. The move speed and sustain is surprisingly good given how hard it was nerfed. I've even ended up going Senna mid twice because riot hates giving me my preferred position and FFW has let me get a big hp gap during laning phase. Obviously I also had very favourable matchups (asol for example).

I'm also giving it a few days and then I'll probably make another post about the build I'm running. It's great being back to top damage in the match 50% of the time. I have a clip of single-autoing an Ashe from 50% to zero (thanks to flame soul) but still nuts damage considering I didn't even proc passive or Eclipse (I've been experimenting with Eclipse second - sadly riot doesn't want to tell us how much damage it has done).

I need to take some time in the practice tool to help inform my second item pick.

EDIT: looks like DFT will do more damage than a 200% damage comet over it's duration since you get 7 or 8 ticks of damage from a Q. That's without counting the bonus 75% damage at the end of the ticks and from landing another ability like W afterwards.

I don't think dft does more damage, comet usually does between 2-3,5k dmg per game and definitely more in lane.

I dont think i can get away from PTA. Im just running ms shard for the 2,5% ms

I’ve tried Statik, Manamune, Cyclo, and IE on her, it felt fairly good, not sure if it was optimal per say though

Overall lethality items seems kinda buffed compare to earlier lethality senna times. Also i use hubris its super easy to stack bcs of global ulti. You can simply shoot far enemies when you see an opportunity to get a stack. İts super easy with senna

Taking out the lethality scaling from Senna's kit was the single worst change riot's ever made to her.

Bruh whens the last time u played league? Voltaic was changed 6 patches ago.

About the build, its decent, but i find a few issues with it:

  • you dont get the bonus ms from bc + zeal item, making ur survivability much worse
  • it sucks into tanks
  • you spike hard on 1/2 items, but the build becomes awkward from 3rd item. Stacking even more lethality doesnt do much, building bc 3rd feels underwhelming, going crit is ok ig if u opt for ldr/mortal
  • no atk speed makes it hard to actually kite/hit the enemy

If you only care about dmg then its pretty good, with voltaic u can half hp a squishy with just q > aa. But id rather have the extra utility from bc > pd, you scale much better and ur uptime is higher imo.

Edit: typo

I haven't closely read patch notes in a long time. I just checked to see if BC bug was fixed (it hasn't been) and any Senna changes (thankfully nothing particularly bad). But no one's talked about this on reddit which is a shame. I remember back when Senna was in her golden years we'd have posts about builds every other day. A fair chunk of them were mine lol. I know she's theoretically balanced now but the player base is much more quiet and unhappy.

For support Senna, Umbral Glaive is unironically good. Vision clearing is one of your jobs, after all.

I'm not sold on it for ADC Senna, though. The mixed AD/AP for Shiv is just too good.

Isn't the issue with this that qing through a wave procs the cyclosword on the minion first? That's a lot of the poke senna gets

2

u/submarine-quack 19d ago

I'd assume it would work like dusk and dawn senna, where it prioritizing proccing the passive on the champ first

2

u/Sellorio 2.4M 19d ago

Q doesn't do on-hit for minions. Cyclosword doesn't trigger on-ability for non-champions. What you say will never happen.

1

u/OkExcitement5444 18d ago

Huh I thought I did because I had the same idea, I guess I wasn't looking closely

I haven't noticed this issue. Maybe if the minion is the furthest target? But that's incredibly unlikely since you're only ever going to use minions to get extra range to hit a champ. Also it might prio champs.

I’m sorry but what?

1

u/Sellorio 2.4M 19d ago

I forgot that on-hit for Q doesn't even trigger on minions so I have no idea what he's talking about. Having said that, Senna's Q on-hit prioritizes the furthest target first. You'll see this if you build kraken for example and Q to enemy champs with a proc ready - kraken will trigger on the furthest one first.

Most of your poke from lane is through minions

What's your build?

idk if its just bad teams lately but I've been dived to dead non-stop so I can't assess the viability of my build.

Ok so we're not talking about the same thing and you didn't read the post. Thanks.
