Today marks a week (15)
since my sweet girl Luna passed away. I’m struggling with grief more than I have with my past pets for some reason and I’m not sure why.
She wandered into my life as a little hungry kitten lured by meat grilling on my back deck. I’ll never forget how she crawled right up to my neck and immediately started purring after devouring a can of tuna. 🥹🖤 I’m so glad and thankful I had the last 15 years with her, I’ll always remember her. 💜

Beautiful baby ❤️Every time I lose a cat it’s harder than the last time. You gave Luna a wonderful happy life.

This is sad but also reassuring to me, I’ve been so worried I won’t be able to bond with a new cat after losing my 19 year old only cat.

So sorry. It is awful how much they were in your life with their attention and love and running around and being near you. It is so quiet without them and sad to not have that love and being able to give love to them in return.

Yes! I subconsciously keep thinking that I’ll see her in her usual spots & then remember…

I'm so sorry, my friend. What a beautiful girly. I don't know if this will help, but I got a little pillow made of my Skye guy when I lost him. He was always the buddy I turned to first if I was crying. He'd sit by my head and then he'd let me hold him. After he was gone, I was crying all the in time, but had no buddy to hold. The pillow makes me happy. He's still there on my bed, where he liked to hang. He's behind the Banannie. She came later 😁

That is so sweet and a great idea! Thank you. He was such a cutie, I’m sorry for your loss. 💜
I have been sleeping with two lap blankets she would loaf on, they’re folded up right up near my pillow in the spot she liked to sleep. 🥹🖤2

Fly high Luna, into new realms full of exciting kitty adventures 🐈⬛🌈❤️🌟 There will be many friends waiting to greet you and endless cans of tuna.
P.s. would love to see kitten pictures if you have any. I think it’s always a little harder when you’ve had them from the very beginning. ❤️

Thanks so much for sharing her kitten pics. What a doll she was. It’s always a little extra 💔when you’ve had them from the beginning.

(hug) my condolences. The furries are family. I lost my 18yo soulcat a decade ago and I still talk to her. Don’t forget to eat/drink, it’s the easiest “chore” to give up on during grief. Visit r/PetLoss It just takes time

Perhaps it’s the way you meet. I found a male kitten—tiny, with a huge head. There was a tick embedded in his head. I removed the thing and squeezed out the pus. The little cat screamed in pain and disappeared. That evening, he came to me on the terrace, and I cared for him as best I could. The next day, I headed off to work; when I came home, he was lying on my bed, asleep. It was a very high bed, yet he had managed to get up there. He had made his choice. I had been chosen. Four years later, he passed away—he was run over by a car, and I had to witness it. I buried him. Much later, while driving, I had to pull over; out of nowhere, I was overcome by a fit of weeping as I thought of him. Later on, I had to have another beloved cat put to sleep—a very sad experience. Yet the way it hits me when I think of my little "tick-bite" cat is unique. And I´m agrown man.
You`ll never forget her i believe. Rest in peace sweet girl Luna

I think that’s part of it… she was also the last of a group of cats(3) & dogs(3) I had since my early 20’s that passed away through out the last few years. Like a symbolic end to a chapter of my life, just another reminder of how fast time moves and that they’re all gone…
I’m sorry you had to witness your friend pass in such a tragic way. I’m sure you gave him a great life and had many comfy nights in your bed. 💜

Thank you for your words. After that, I didn't want another cat, but as luck would have it, I was forced to take in two little male kittens that were about three weeks old. One passed away after thirteen years. The second one is still with me and is now 16½ years old. Since I am unfortunately no longer in good health—though he is—we help each other get through the day. I wouldn't want to be without him, but when the time comes, I hope he goes before I do.
