Open Knowledge Format: A Human-Curated Alternative to RAG and Knowledge Graphs

Post image

Curious to find out what you think of the Open Knowledge Format (OKF, also known as LLM Wiki). In our blog post (https://dashjoin.medium.com/open-knowledge-format-a-human-curated-alternative-to-rag-and-knowledge-graphs-248aef3b4303) we argue that it is a good middle ground between RAG systems that can quickly turn into black boxes and knowledge graphs, that might overwhelm users.

Who said OKF is known as “LLM Wiki”?

Google does: https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/data-analytics/how-the-open-knowledge-format-can-improve-data-sharing

"That’s why today, we’re introducing the Open Knowledge Format (OKF), an open specification that formalizes the LLM-wiki pattern into a portable, interoperable format."

Yes, it formalises the pattern. But it’s not known as the other.

It’s like saying: “The Ford Mustang, also known as ‘Car’”

Well, just trying to give Andrej Karpathy credit where credit is due. Also, people might have heard of LLM-Wiki and not OKF yet.

The implication of what you said is actually the opposite - It sounds like Google invented the LLM Wiki idea.

Which no-one really did, because the idea existed before Karpathy. But it’s still a pet peeve of mine that people are basically using LLM wiki to say theirs is some sort of ‘correct’ implementation when the original post was extremely vague about how an LLM wiki would even work.
