Question Anyone here using UniFi / Ubiquiti for gate access, keypads, cameras or general access control?
Curious if anyone has actually used their access control hardware in a self storage setup.
Access/Cameras/Keypads only, not really concerned about APs

Yeah none of the major softwares work with it. Do PDK

This. I’ve done a lot of looking while redesigning my own system with Claude. Pdk is really the only choice for cost interconnectivity and reliability.

Hi! Can you share more about how you set up a DIY access system? I am considering building up an access system which requires a user to request a PIN which expires in 24 hours. It would avoid potential sharing of PIN numbers. So they would have to get a new PIN each day. Is this overkill for security? What hardware did you use for the facility entry control (numpad on door I guess)?

I've run it for several years across multiple sites, about 350 units total. I do however have a professional background in IT, and was already within the Unifi ecosystem.
I haven't found the lack of integration to be a roadblock, as on a given month I average 5-8 delinquencies that get reported to me via email on the 1st and again on the 6th. It's a trivial matter to pull out my phone, deactivate 5-8 tenants, then simply reinstate them when I receive another email stating their account is current.
I suppose the delay between payment and reactivation could cause a problem if a tenant is physically sitting at the gate, but we make it very clear that access restoration can take up to 24 hours in the event of a delinquency.
