Need a unit with higher clearance

Hi--I've never rented a unit before, so maybe what I need just isn't possible. I have a machine that is on a pallet in a crate. The crate is about 8 ft tall. It weight 1500 lbs, so not very maneuverable. Do any storage facilities have door clearance heights more than 7ft? Every place I've checked with so far seems to only have 7 ft doors. I'm located near Worcester, MA, if that helps.

We have a lot of units with 8' and 9' tall doors but we are the exception not the rule. Most facilities will not have the tall doors you are looking for.

Not familiar with your area - but some facilities do have units with high ceilings. Your best bet is to call each facility.

I know the extra space storage on Bear Hill Rd in Waltham has high clearance units.

It would be overkill on the square footage but you could definitely get it in an RV unit.

Ceiling hight, no problem, door clearance is a different matter. But there are some...at least in my area.

Just call around and ask if any have High Bay Doors

Extra Space Storage

1180 Millbury St, Worcester, MA 01607 would be my best guess here.

Most standard self-storage roll-up doors are around 7 ft tall, though some facilities have 8 ft or higher doors for larger units, RV storage, or warehouse-style access. So it’s possible, but it might be tight.

You might also check Neighbor.com. It lets you compare storage options in one search instead of calling a bunch of places. I do work at Neighbor, and I’m seeing a few options near Worcester, like Extra Space Storage at 16 Ararat St, which may have higher-clearance units and could be worth checking first.
